Palin's Packing Up From "Closed" Governor's Mansion?

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Resigning Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she and her husband are packing their family's possessions at the governor's mansion in Juneau, the state capital. Palin says Sunday on her Twitter page, "Todd & I r packing JNU house today; looking thru Piper's kindergarten schoolwork here reminds how quickly X flies; she enters 3rd grd in fall." Piper is the youngest of Palins' three daughters. The Palins also have two sons. Palin officially steps down July 26 – 18 months before the end of her first term. http://www.adn.com/3182/story/869556.html This isn't really a big "news" story since we already knew Palin was resigning as of today (July 26, 2009) BUT haven't her supporters here on myLot been saying for nearly a year that she had CLOSED the Governor's mansion, thus saving Alaskans a great deal of money? Hmmm... Annie

lol I haven't responded to many of your Palin discussions, because after I respond, my star rate seems to drop, but I have noticed that you post about Palin like kennyrose posts about Obama's birth certificate. I was just wondering why you two can't get along any better? ;) But as far as the mansion goes, I don't know anything about that.

Matersfish, you're giving me MUCH too much credit...lol! Rose sometimes posts up to a dozen nearly identical discussions at a time about the birth certificate so I couldn't keep up with her even if I tried. It's pretty easy to post a bunch of discussions when you just copy and paste articles, I guess. As far as your star rating, mine has dropped as well and I can trace it's fall directly back to Palin's introduction. They all deny it but it's clear there are SOME Palin "fans" who can't accept any criticism of their favorite "star" so they act like children and go around and give minuses to the "guilty" parties. Actually, Rose has been one of the posters here who has repeatedly claimed Palin had closed the mansion saving Alaskans "millions" of dollars. I say, if it were closed there wouldn't be any packing to do now, would there? Annie

So that's why the bottom fell out of my star rating. I just gave you and annie a plus, maybe that will help. I don't care what my star rating is, you betcha I don't!

Who cares about Sarah Palin, what about the contradictions in the current Obama Administrations--you should be appalled!!

Annie, you should know by now that what comes out of Palin's mouth isn't always what is really going on. You apparently aren't use to listening to Palin speak, it is apparently an art form.

Debater, you are free to judge her on what she's done, but you and Annie are judging her on a lie she never told. Seriously, look around. Find me one place that she EVER claimed she "closed" the governor's mansion. That's not even possible. She wasn't living there. That's all. It's no different than if Obama decided not to live in the White House. It wouldn't "close" because as we all know that's just not possible. It's more than a home. It's a place of business.

So, debater would you say Palin learned this art form from Obama or did he learn it from her?

Irish, I have never seen a politian who is as misunderstood as much as Palin. It is almost as if when ever she says something, someone around her has to release a statement as to what she really ment to say. Obama has done this a few times, but Palin has made a career out of this.

"BUT haven't her supporters here on myLot been saying for nearly a year that she had CLOSED the Governor's mansion, thus saving Alaskans a great deal of money?" Nobody ever claimed she "closed" the governor's mansion. That's ridiculous. She wasn't living there because she was living at her home in Wasilla. That's not to say the mansion was never used. They used it at times when they did stay in Juneau because it was there and it would be rather pointless to spend taxpayer dollars on a hotel room if they were spending the night in town. It is also used for formal functions. That's why you may have heard that while she doesn't use the personal chef that Alaskan governors get, the chef was still brought in part time for large functions. The mansion is not JUST a place for people to live. It serves many functions just as the White House does.

Taskr, it may be "ridiculous" but someone certainly DID claim many times that she "closed" the governor's mansion and, if I'm not mistaken, that she "saved Alaskans many millions of dollars". Annie

Hold on. So this thread is all about Kennyrose? You started an entire thread attacking Sarah Palin and her supporters over something Kennyrose said? Is Kennyrose Sarah Palin's spokesperson? Is Kennyrose your new head of the Republican Party? Have you demoted Limbaugh in your unofficial ranking system? If Sarah Palin and ALL her supporters are going to be held liable for what Kennyrose says perhaps I should hold you and all Obama's supporters liable for things said by David Letterman or Heather Mallick? Seriously Annie, it's pretty lame to start an entire thread making claims about Palin's "supporters", note that's plural, because of something ONE person on mylot said.

WHAT in my posts this discussion is attacking Sarah Palin? I didn't say a thing against her regarding the mansion, did I? I also didn't mean to imply "all" her supporters said she'd closed the mansion so if there's any misunderstanding there I'm big enough to apologize. Kennyrose hasn't been the only one to make that claim, however, although she's the one to have made it the most often. BTW, who's Heather Mallick and how do you know David Letterman is an "Obama supporter"? I don't watch his show regularly but from what I've seen and known of him through the years he's an "equal opportunity" comic, meaning he'll take a laugh at whoever expense he can. Annie

I know I will get slammed for this probably, but since everything that could be said has already been said by previous posters, I have to point something different out....Is that really how she typed things out on Twitter??? Is there some sort of character limit on twitter? That's the only excuse I could think of for a Governor to spell are as r, she could have split it into 2 twitter thingys and not sound like a teen texting.

I'm no twitter expert either. It's hard to put what you want to say in 140 characters, though. Annie

Ahh ok, the twitter thing is just beyond me, I try to be fun and hip because I'm still young but I just don't think I could ever "tweet" because every time I hear about it, I just picture a bird and it makes me giggle

Yes, there is a character limit. I believe 140 characters. Better to put it into one tweet instead of two incase the second part gets lost among the tweets.

By Golly.... You're right Annie, I do remember that she wasn't living in the Governor's mansion, according to some of her supporters. Maybe she just used it as a storage shed. When will some people ever come out with truthful statements instead of twisting everything to suit the "right wing???" or should they be called the "wrong wing"?

Be honest, both sides twists things to suit themselves. The left wing is calling Obama a great president when the facts are saying otherwise.

Do you know for a fact that Palin had closed the Governor's mansion or was it just what some of her supports said? Could it have been closed when she was running for Vice President and reopened after the campaign was over? Does it really matter if she did or didn't close the mansion?

Obviously, we all know for a fact that it wasn't closed since she packed her personal belongs from there, right? It doesn't matter, she had every right to use the governor's mansion, that's what it's there for. The claim had been made, though, and was in fact repeated again in this very discussion. Annie

How in the world is this discussion trying to "bring her down"? To answer your question, when something happens regarding Sarah Palin it receives quite a bit of attention, some good some not so good. You can't deny that, can you? Mylot is a place where we discuss things or "talk about them" online, right? Basically, when I choose something to "talk about" here on myLot I try to find something that will be interesting to other members here even if it ruffles some feathers. I won't deny that I've started a few discussions here that nobody seemed to care about and got few or no responses and, quite frankly, that's not much fun. To sum it up, I post discussion about Palin for something to talk about so as long as people are talking about her I'll probably keep on posting about her now and then...lol! Obviously, I don't have the power to "bring her down" by posting on myLot even if I wanted to! Look at it this way - I earn a few pennies and get some points when I post about Sarah and all of you who respond to complain about my posts do the same. You're even likely to get a "plus" rating from me if your post is respectful and well written and I can promise you WON'T get a negative from me unless you're offensive or abusive which very few ever are. Annie, can you explain your obsession with Sarah Palin? I'm not talking about any particular issue or discussion you've started about the woman, but that whatever happens with her you seem to jump on an make an issue out of it. Do you feel you have a duty to bring her down, or is it just something to talk about?

She isn't squeaky clean, but neither is Obama. He's worse because he's suppose to be taking care of the business of America. Are you putting this in the same category as the complaints about the Clintons when they left the White House? I suspect it won't be long until she's accused of stealing from the mansion. Do you think the Clintons stole from the White House? Are you going to post threads if some blogger files an ethics charge? You don't like Palin. Fine, but at least let's put this all in perspective. I'm worried more about the failure of Obama than what Palin's doing. What he's doing affects everyone in every state.

I didn't mean this as any kind of attack or even criticism of Palin. It was just an observation that she tweeted about packing up the mansion and I'd heard about moving vans there but I distinctly recalled reading here that she'd closed the mansion and saved Alaskans millions of dollars. I even thought I may have been mistaken about the "millions of dollars" claim because, I thought, who would ever say it would cost millions of dollars to run a house, even a governor's mansion but, to my surprise - or not...lol - there it is in this discussion, the same claim again. good point, why do you care so much about her mansion? I would think a valid argument would be the drilling of ANWAR?? At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Obama hires Sarah Palin to come on board, Obama did invent a new position "Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change" and Sarah Palin seems to know everything there is about Energy and whats good for the country and that its "common sense, people"...

Well, I guess as Taskr indicated, it was still being used periodically. I just find all of the recent publicity surrounding her dumping her job a bit inappropriate and that includes the folksy Twitter cr@p. It's not like she's arrived at the end of her term and her excuses for dumping her state ring very hollow in light of the revelations regarding her future plans.
