I was diagnosed a few years back with an anxiety disorder and since then I've been taking medication for it which has really worked wonders. I also have taken up yoga and feel that it has really helped in times of stress. What are your coping mechanisms?

Well, I believe seriously that about anxiety and depression there is a genetic component...I suffer from years of anxiety and panic...sure a thing that give a help is make some kind of sport, is proved. I found a valid help in medicine, without them unfortunately my body return to feel a lot of bad feelings. There's a lot of people that don't like to take medicine, especially this type...for me the best and most important thing is that I feel good, I don't care if I've to take a pastil..

Usually I will try not to think about my problems and difficulties and always try to think a good positive things. It hard, and usually if that thing really hurt me, I'll ended up crying and then sleep. But I do not take any medication. I think I'm able to handle the problems that come in, even though it hard. Really Yoga work? I want to learn Yoga online, I always heard yoga is good, maybe I should try.

How are you ? Yes, Yoga meditation is excellent and very helpful in relieving depression/ anxiety. That is wonderful. I practice Yoga meditation too which is very good for mental and physical relaxation. I now try to practise meditation every evening, atleast for half-an-hour. Best wishes to you !

I once took a class in Contemplative Meditation which came right after a NIA once class. NIA is a dance class that incorporates various martial arts and yoga poses and teaches you how to heal through the movements of your body. It's a really great class, if you can find a NIA class in your area I'd highly recommend it. It's fun too, but can be a little silly, but your in a class that has to follow what the teacher says so you're all being silly together while healing yourself body, mind and soul. Great fun and you can do it at home to. There's even a NIA Technique Book... and you keep a weekly journal.

Hi there, from a young age I have battled an anxiety disorder and depression. Like some of the other posters I highly recommend cardio exercises. While at the time the last thing I feel like doing is going for a run or bike ride the endorphins produced by exercising ensures I feel alot better once I have finished. I also find that pilates is a relaxing exercise that makes me feel relaxed just as you find yoga relaxing. However sometimes I find the exact opposite is needed and I profit more from taking a break, grabbing friends or family and some unhealthy snacks and having a movie night. Is this situation comedies work wonders.

I am a great believer that the best remedy for anxiety or depression is taking regular exercise. The best medicine is often a walk in the country, a swim, a cycle or a gentle jog and the best time for me to do it is when I feel slightly peevish or out of sorts or even depressed. However doing small amounts of exercise regularly is a very good preventative measure.
