Fasting is usually thought of as a religious practice to increase ones spirituality and connection to God.
There are significant health benefits attributed to fasting which we would do well to know of. There are also certain changes which takes place in our body which we should know of.
As we break our fast we ought to bear in mind the bacterial content of our stomach, their importance, how fasting affects them and how best to restore this bacterial content. I enjoy how I feel after a proper fast. My system feels cleaner and much more alive.
Here I found a useful limk which gives varied information on fasting for both health and religious purposes.

I have heard a lot about fasting for religious purposes. I have also heard from non-religious standpoints on the topic. It is supposedly beneficial to our bodies to fast and allow it to "purge" a day a week. I don't know if i could go for a day a week, but I have tried it now and then. I have gone 21 days for religious purposes. I feel better but weak!

21 days . I wouldnt even go there in thought.
I wouldnt try a day a week fast either but rather just as the body demands. Fasting is not the only method I use to stay rejuvenated so too much fast may just take ist toll instead of helping.
Thanks for sharing and I think thats a pretty brave thing you did.

I find the information to be fascinating even not altogether something I would have wanted to know a whole lot of detail about. Yet there are benefits I see and it seems it can help cleanse the body of toxins... I don't know if as well as a flush of the toxins from the body. Thank you for the information, I think I may try learning more and participating in a proper fast.

It's a great site and I signed on for the newsletter.
I was especially interested in breaking the nicotine habit using fasting and supplements.
Thanks for this very good web link.
