Do you know dogs who eat more than dog food?

I was walking down the street on a warm day and an ice cream van drove by. Then I saw a gold retreiver jumping up and down behind the hedge, occasionally putting its chin on top of the hedge with very eager eyes. I was just wondering what was going on with this big dog, a man came from the other end of the street, holding three ice cream in his hand. 'He is waiting for this', he said with a big smile on his face. Wow! So a gold rereiver's favourite food is ice cream! We can be buddies! But then my friend told me later: because it was warm, something cooling is actually very nice for a dog's tongue since it is the only place a dog can sweat. Oh, I see. But you should see how cute that dog was when putting its head and paws on the hedge. I am sure lots of dogs like food other than dog biscuits and tin meat. My cousin's dog likes to eat cream caramel and it will come to find you when it hears the noise from tearing off the foil cover. You have to shut yourself in bedroom in order to eat your dessert.

On top of dog food I feed mine whole raw chickens, roadkill & about anything else laying around. They'll eat anything & only eat dog food as a last resort.

Cool~~ Are they farm dogs? I used to have a friend whose parents live in the mountain. They keep dogs not as pets but to guard the house from strangers and sometimes beasts. They never feed dogs with human food but raw meat. Those dogs are not soft playful cuties but faithful soldiers.

My wolfdogs are multipurpose. They're house pets but they also serve to keep the coyotes away ( a fact the cats like ) , act as guards ( they're a terror to anyone who doesn't know them ) & garbage disposals There are some pics of them on my profile if you want to have a look.

Thanks for sharing. I like your dogs! If I had a big outer space outside my house, I would have dogs like them. At the moment it's just a dream. Knowing what's going on with other people's dogs kind of bring some satisfaction. :)

My dogs love apples, we give them ice cubes in the warmer weather and frozen carrots to chew on. They have been known to have a cheese burger from McD's and are quite partial to sausages and roast dinners. I always give my dogs a little roast dinner mixed in with their own food when I cook a roast dinner.

Chewing ice cubes! That's a good idea. I bet ice will do no harm to doggies. My cousin sometimes boils chicken meat for her maltese. Just to add a bit flavour to its diet. The dog likes it. Occasionally there will be beef, but then she has to tear the meat into tiny pieces. MacDonald's~~~:P

Yeah, my dog likes to eat almost any food that we give it to her, perhaps she is bored eating her own dog food all the time. Sometimes, I'll give her apple, guava, orange, cherry tomato. Basically, when I'm eating any fruits, I'll just give her some. But I do not give her any dessert or candies, I just think it's not good for her health.

I find it kind of sweet to share food with your pets. But we all know not all human food is good for them.

My dogs will eat just about anything. They love watermelon and tomatoes. They like to chew on corn-on-the-cob. They are definitely not picky.

Most my friends have dogs but I never have one. I have no idea what dogs really eat. Sometimes they beg for breakfast toast. Aren't they supposed to eat meat only??? So your dogs eat fruits and vegetable! Good example for healthy diet!

My dog & cat eat mainly the food that is made specifically for them, but they do get other thngs as treats. My dog's favorite is steamed cauliflower (it has to be warm though), she will do anything for it. My cat loves peas. Yes, they're both a bit strange.

I guess when dogs and cats have some 'personal' likes and dislikes it brings them a lot more characters. Your cat eats peas? Gosh. My next door neighbour's cat eats live pigeons. :P
