Hi myLotters, I know that when we were (or are) a teenager, we still searching for our true identity and many of us may have found difficulties adjusting ourselves into the society. Many people having high points in their high schools, maybe especially the popular ones, but after that life went downhill from there? Or maybe it was the worst moments, always bullied by other students, considered as a weird person and you just want to left all those moments and starting a new life afterward. Or is it just unmemorable for you cause you just perceived it as a stage of life which you go through it, but nothing special happened at the time? For me, I was enjoying my high school moments a lot. A lot of partying, great friends, good grades, and most of all, when I was at 12th grade, I was placed in a class whose all of my classmates help me a lot in finding my true self and lift my self esteem. We even having this trip to a city, where we rent a cottage and at that meeting, each of us must give honest opinion what is our strength and weakness, so we all can reflect ourselves and being a better person. So, share your opinion here! Which types were you in high school? Is it great or pain in the a** moments?

I had a great time during highschool. I dont want to brag but since u asked, im popular in school. But because im rich, flashing expensive cars and stuff like that, im involved with extra curricular activities. Im a dance troupe member, we always get free trip to other school to compete. Since my family rans a party business, i have an edge in my culinary class where im considered as the best in class in culinary. Im involved in a lot of activities, i have lots friends, my teachers always include me any event organization, i make sure to include students who's not popular so they can be a part of a bigger activity. During graduation, my effort has been recignized for involving a lot of people who's shy and thought they have nothing to share. Its was a blast and it was memorable.

I hated my High School Years... many years ago now..lol I was bullied constantly by the tough girls of the school & yet I gave them no reason to pick on me, I was a very shy child. It had alot to do with my looks, being a pretty child can cause alot of problems from other girls being jealous if their boyfriends just look at you! So I spent alot of my schoolo yaers with my head down. Horrible memories. Kids can be so cruel.

I can really relate to your experience. My friends treated me worse if I got any attention from the boys. I was a shy girl, still am and didn't return the boys attention but my friends didn't care. Kids really can be cruel.

A few categories here - the popular group, the bullied, the bullies and those who stay under the radar. I belong under the fourth category, although I have to say that I attract not nice remarks and treatment. It was like I could win disapproval easily. It was nightmare for me at times. The shame and humiliation. Thank goodness high school is over.

High school never ends isn't it? Even in office, I still see the popular ones, bullying people and made a nasty remarks to each other. Backstabbing also a common thing in office. So I think we may think high school over, but the behavior and attitude are still there...

High school was an ok experience for me. There was its good times and its bad , mostly bad though haha. Everyone gets bullied through high school , there is of course the cool kids and geeks , the nerds , the outright idiots. But everyone is their own person , everyone changes , you cant change everyone , but you can change yourself.

High school is terrible compared to college. In high school you are engulfed in the culture of cliques, as most teenagers aren't old enough to really understand their place in the world. They want to belong, and they become a part of what accepts them for the most part. I was in groups and all, but the teenage subculture was so restricted to the world of high school that to enjoy it, you had to give in to the thought process of a teenager. College is much more engaging and you feel freer to express who you really want to be, and since there are more [and older] people, there are always those who share your interests no matter what else you like. High school time is often considered the "best years of your life" but that usually comes from people who spearheaded the mentality of cliques - I hated high school for this very reason. I flourished in college because there is more freedom to express your own thoughts, even if they are countercultural or against the group.

I agree about the culuture of cliques, but at the same time, isn't it a natural process of finding your true identity? You try to personify yourself on which group you are belong. In college, people are more individualistic as they well much know who they really are and don't care about clique that much. But after all of that, I just miss all my clique at high school. Why? Because those are fun times, and to enjoy fun times as an adult, I enjoy it more with my high school times, they just know who I really am and watch my personality grows from high school to college.

High school for me was hard the first two years, the last two years was a breeze. It was actually fun and participating in school events were more fun. I miss playing sports in high school though. College is just totally different for me. I had a lot of friends in high school also, it's fun to meet old classmate when you're just going to the store or traveling around though, there's always something to say to them. And definitely can't forget all the school dances either, it was fun while it lasted.

My high school experience was too great. Before when i was in school i use to think when will i get out from the school life and join the college life because in college life we had total freedom i use to think in such a way. But i realized the school days were so rocking and enjoying really miss them. Specially the teachers who took a lot of care for us and to make us our future secure. They were very dedicated with the work and taught us with all the available information even though it was not in our syllabus as they wanted us to be aware about everything that we should me. We were like clay mud and they moulded us and gave a good shape to look good. Those days were really enjoying.

Yeah you are right teachers are really hero's cos they really teach us how us how to be in life the decipline that they teach is worth admiring.

College is definetely different than school. Yes, it offers freedom which I don't have during high school because there were teachers watching us, but at the same time it also made individuality, people only think about themselves, they start really2 ambitious, and not caring for others. I believe in stricter rules and regulations, people tend to stay close an lookout for each other and although maybe you found the teachers annoying person, they actually care about us and think about it now they are really people who mold us into what we are now, they give me a lesson about discipline and hard work. Teachers really are a hero which we are easily to forget, sad but true..Thanks for the response!

When I was in high school I was so in a hurry to grow up. Wanted to get out on my own and have a good job. But now I look back and realize how those were the best years of my life. I had it so easy and nothing to worry about. Even though at some points it was tough I really enjoyed high school and treasure those years. I even wish I could live it all again.

That's my current fb status update, wish I could go back to 2001-2004 where no stress happened because of work just study and enjoy our life with my friends. Sometimes I look back to high school experience if I feel demotivated in my work. It's a high point in my life that can remind myself of happiness and joy, which I rarely see right now lol. Thanks for the response!

Hi, boy. I strongly agree with your words "many of us have found difficulties adjusting ourselves into the society." In my opinion, high school life should be more related to society not just focus on the points of study. I had middle points in high school and I played a lot!! So, to me, high school life was enjoyable. However, I have to study some subject I don't like and face to someone I hate. Life always combine with half happiness and half pain.

I agree. In my country high school always related to grades, it's rarely related to extracurricular or social activities which can build our EQ, emotional quotent. There are also too many subjects too in high school. My friend once said in other countries, students only study several subjects (even my friends said less than five!) which really is their interest pursuing in the future. It's really a lot amount of books, which is very tough for many students, but I think if we could cope with like you said, it's not always be pain, but I found a true happiness in it. Thanks for the response!

Some good teachers (or some good parents) will encourage you to attend extracurricular activities. Cuz what we learn from school is the skill of self-learing, that's all! The most important skill we should learn is Communication skill! and this skill can only be leart from society. I will push my kids to contact with society and not just focus on the points of school.

Agree with you! I am lucky I was given an opportunity to be a host of a big school event and trained by professional entertainer, that's how I learn communication skill and boost my confidence. But my friends, poor them, even until graduating uni didn't know how to socialize, doing good presentation, and have low self esteem of themselves. It must be realized by today's education that later on their life, communication skill is the most important card to play in work environment, and it must be taught since they are still a little kid.

Forgive me for sounding a bit egotistical, but I could've easily done without high school altogether. I made awesome grades but was completely bored out of my mind for the most part. I didn't fit in at all. If it weren't for a few close friends at the time, I probably would have went completely insane.

I second that! I was in all honors, AP, you name it. It was hellishly boring. And the immaturity of most of my classmates was just ridiculous.
• Indonesia
28 Jul 09
Hmm, I agree that sometimes our friends can be so annoying, but I think high school is the last place where immaturity is allowed. So yes, we act foolish, we act stupid, but I think it is normal to act like that. We still search for our identity. But what I would not tollerate is irresponsibility, you can act whatever you like, but don't hurt another person. Think about others before doing something. Thanks for the response

Well I think high school is probally a mixed bag for the majority of people. I know it was for me. But i would have to say that it was more of a good mix than bad. My high school was fun. My class really got along with each other and had fun with each other. We really didn't party we just hung out and watched WWE with each other or listened to music went out to eat or to the movies. I have some great memories. Some of the funniest moments of my life were in high school.

I have mixed feelings of my high school days. Initially i had a difficult time since English was new to me and only when i entered my High school, i started learning English and as i was unable to communicate with my friends in english at that stage, they used to mock and laugh at me since i was the only person in that entire school who never learnt english in the primary schooling since i attended my Primary schooling at a place where everything would be thought in the Regional language. Hence I decided to work on my weakness and learnt english vigorously which helped me in improving my fluency and command over the language and at the same time i was able to compete with the people who learnt english right from their childhood. Hence the later part of my high school days were like heaven to me although i experienced certain hiccups at the early stage of my high school carreer.

well my days in high school was great. Like yours it was party party. And study of course. i was bit careless in 11th grade got carried away into parties and stuff like that and had hard time getting good grades. well i was kinda better than average in popularity as i was in basketball team most of them knew me specially due to my unique hairstyle.. anyway it wasn't always great in high school i had highs and lows. There was this time i was depressed due to my grade. I was so worried that i didn't even study for exams. thought i won't be able to pass my exam. if it wasn't for my brother i would have given up. My brothers coached me for my studies and i studied whole years course in just 1 month. I studied like 12 hr a day..it was fun and it payed off with good result. in total my high school life where great had great time learned valuable lessons. studied like never before, made great friends.Had loads of memories. it was just great days being in high school.

Let me say it this way I never really liked school till my senior year. That was my favorite year out of all 12. I only wish I could do it all over knowing what I know now. I would have enjoyed it more.

Senior year is also my favorite and at that time, time seems so fast I hardly believe it's already over. Really wish could go back there, but think about that again, I won't change a thing. Looking through all the photos taken there still made me laugh. Thanks for the response!

the first year was the worst, because my classmates kept teasing me and i had a low confidence because i don't have real friends there. second year was fine but they were already friends that i had. third year was the great time because some of my friends were athletes. and Prom sucks. and Fourth Year, it was both good and bad..Bad because my partner danced with some one else. good because i graduated finally.

In my country high school divided into 3 grades, 10th-12th. First year is really great, my classmates were crazy and have a lot of fun in our class, although I think there's some groups here and there. Second year not that great. The class is meh, but I enjoy all the party my friends held. At that age I just discover how a real party was, and enjoy every second of it. Senior year in my country is where we pick our major, science or social. Science perceived for smart ones and social for the leftovers lol. I enter science, first I am afraid will nerd people, but it ends with the best class I have ever had in my life, crazy people, always talk and laugh hard, and a really really solid class. Up until now minimum once a year, we have a reunion. Thanks for the response!

I hated the early years but once I moved into the senior years life became much more enjoyable. I have many happy memories of those years. I married the girl that I went to the school prom with. However I have never been to a school reunion. I have avoided these like the plague. Nor have I ever made the attempt to meet up with old school friends through social networking sites.

Oh, that's awesome! From all the relationship my friends had when their high school, I think only few stayed longer than a year after graduating. The last one finally broke up two months ago after 6 years been together. School reunion can make some people nervous, there are mix feelings that can happen there..Some old wound may open again or some problem may even be resolved by confront the person directly, which we may not dare in younger days.

For me, high school is not totally a great experience.'Coz in are school we are boys. Its boring ..if you know what i mean. But academically speaking. Its a high standard. But if we're talking about good time. It's not.I think college is the best.

Haha..the high school I initially wanted to enter is all boys. Yeah I know it's pretty tough to looking for romance there. Usually the end result of all boys school is they seems more crazy than the mix school one :) Thanks for the response!
