Have you ever read a McEwan book? The story line is frequently intriguing, very out of this world. The words are simple yet profoundly refreshing.
Chesil Beach left me feeling a bit out of this world into the What If world. Atonement left me at a loss for words and emotions. Enduring Love was tormenting.
But worth the read for the emotions it can bring upon.

I first read 'Enduring Love' as part of my degree course 8 years ago. I loved it, and have since read several of Ian McEwan's books. I have to say I was disappointed with Chesil Beach, but I really enjoyed 'Amsterdam' and 'Saturday.' I finished reading 'Atonement' last week, and I'm still thinking about it. It's one of the most wonderful books I've ever read. If you like Ian McEwan, you'll probably also enjoy Graham Swift. Try something of his. I'd recommend 'Waterland' and 'Last Orders' as great introductions.
