Do You Enjoy Long Road Trips?

Nothing better for me than a nice long road trip in a comfortable vehicle. I'm not interested in riding in a cramped back seat in a pickup truck, but I love riding Greyhound busses all over Canada and the USA. A train would be nice, but a Greyhound is a lot cheaper. Does anyone else enjoy nice long road trips? Why? For me, it's the fact that I'm sitting down, and am able to see the world around me, as it goes by.

As long as I don't have to drive! And we have plenty of money! We drove to Florida in 2005 & that was about 19 hours one way. We took our time getting there, but then on the way back, John drove straight through. Now this year for Christmas John wants to take another long road trip. Not sure yet if we're going to his brother's house in Texas or his mom's in Arizona. Better start watering that money tree in the backyard!

You've got a money tree growing in your backyard? Send some seeds my way!!! :) Getting on here as MyLot is a good way to fertilize the money tree, and getting a few best responses here and there from the people whose discussions you respond to, is another great bit of fertilizer for the savings account. :)
AZ would be cool. Too bad we won't be down there this Christmas.
Florida? I would love to go to Florida, and YOU KNOW WHY!!!
Texas? Do you know where Quinlan TX is? I've got a really good friend there I'd love to see.

Long trips are not for me...not at all. I have to drive every single day and I start dreaming about walking in general instead of driving....
Buses are not my friends...it takes forever to get to your destination....

I love long trips. I have ever since I was little. I wasn't that kid that kept asking "Are We Therr Yet?"I prefer trains to buses. You have more room. The windows are larger , and besides you can get up and walk to the dining car.My next fav is by car.As long as the car has AC in the summer or heat in the winter , I am happy.

It does sound tempting, but one does need to have all the time. Being someone who ties himself to a full-time job, this does not allow me the freedom to go on long road trips. But it is a good experience to venture through. I have friends who try the silk road of Asia. Amazing journey.

During out first visit to Boracay with my cousins, theres actually another option, to get a plane straight to Caticlan and few minutes youll be a in Boracay and enjoy the sun! But then we opted on going to Iloilo, take a 5 hour bus ride to Caticlan because reaching Boracay. We just wanted adventure, few bus stops. 3days after spending time in the beach and party in Cocomangas, we went to straight to our grandmotherse place..which took us 3 hours bus ride again, spend a day with her before hitting the bus and head straight to cebu. It was fun.
And yes, i enjoy long trips, that way u get to see different places rather then just be on the shorter trips.

I haven't decided yet whether I like long rides or not! There are times that I love to sit and just watch the scenery go by and I know that I want to see and explore the 50 states and all the tourist attractions in them. But at other times I get bored very quickly with it all. I know that I am a better passenger than driver, but if I do my exploring, it will be by myself, unless someone comes along real soon! I've never done any travel by bus, train or plane, so I don't know how I would enjoy any of those. Only car!!

yes i do enjoy taking long road trips. i used to drive up north to my neighbouring country for road trips. i prefer to drive during road trips as i like to feel in control. also, i enjoy the freedom brought to me by driving.
driving also allows me to stop whenever and wherever i want. taking detours is part of the fun of long road trips. we've discovered quite a few rural gems by taking such detours.

Hello danishcanadian!
I enjoy long road trips. It can be very tiring though. But even then, nothing beats a nice long road trip especially in a comfortable vehicle. It's nice to stop in places where you can take pictures for remembrance. I believe everybody should at least, once in their lifetime, try a long road trip and I hope that they enjoy it.

Oh no, I hate long trips, be it on road or elsewhere. I actually love being to new places, but it is the journeying part that bothers me. Apart from the boredom that sets in with having nothing to do, I also dislike the confinement to a vehicle for longer durations which is somewhat suffocating to me. One exception, however, is when it's something of the kind of a picnic, including lots of friends and peers. Time just flies with the right set of people keeping your company.

We are a traveling family so road trips to us are second nature. We've driven 27 hours to get somewhere and the long trips are the best. The kids turn on a DVD or sleep or iPod it for a while. We stop to see historial sites and we make sure they know where they are when they are up and alert. The two hour trips are the worst, they want to know what is taking so long, 27 hours they are fine, 2 hours and they are going car crazy, whats up with that?

Yes I really love long road trips especially on new roads unknown to me. The joy of escaping from the hustle and bustle of the city gives me a lot of satisfaction.... And if there are a few good friends to accompany me then I wan't nothing more.

I have not taken a long road trip in quite some time. I usually do not like to take them because I get car sick alot of times. I never have the time to take trips anymore either.

I love long road trips! Specially, if I'm the one driving. I know some people doesn't like it but the he fact that I have control over my time, I can do whatever I want during the travel.

I have a really bad case of travel bug, so any reason to travel and any means is cool with me. Lately I've been in the mood for long rides in car/train. I took the bus when I moved to where I am now. I enjoyed to quite a bit. I enjoy being able to see the scenery. It's really cool how quickly it can change.

Yes, long drive is my best thing I want to do. Every weekend I had a long drive with my husband. I love to be when the road is clear and the weather is cool. I enjoy rains too when I am on long drive. I love when I see trees moving although it is not but..I love the moving vehicles when it passes by and sometimes we are far away from it. I enjoy the road trip so much that I can even sacrifice food for it.

Yes, I really love long road trips! I prefer to be driving in a car though, not on a bus! You have no control over your journey on a bus. I like to stop and look at things that I find interesting along the way! I really love exploring new areas and you cannot do that when you fly to your destination!
Unfortunately for me, my wife does not like long trips in the car! :-(
Last Christmas, I drove with my 2 kids 1800 kilometres from Brisbane to Melbourne to see my family there. My wife came by plane a week later and drove with us for the return journey. It was a 5000 kilometre round trip! We took the scenic route along the coast for the return trip, but my wife was bored by it all. I loved it though!!! :-)
I have also driven across the USA and a little of Canada on a fantastic road trip with friends 11 years ago. We had one rental car from San Francisco to Denver over two weeks, then we did some greyhounds and other cars for the rest of the trip to New York via Ontario, Canada.
I did a 24 hour train trip once. That was enjoyable but not as good as driving!
