I do not know but many people will think of me as stupid but tell me does the capital provide you with the basic necessities of life. Normal people do not get proper water. Many of them depend on tankers everyday. And sometimes the water is so bad you cannot even drink it. I know many people who buy mineral water every day. Now doesn't that sound expensive. Another major problem is the electricity. This problem is their throughout the year. And in summer when the demand is at the peak there is no electricity for 18-20 hours. Every year the government promises the situation to be different but alas there is no change. Where are the basic necessities which are required by the people. I agree Delhi has progressed a lot in terms of coming up of metro rails and other things. But what about the needs of normal middle class people. Inflation has shot up like anything. But what about the salary of the people. Has it gone up that number of times. Though I agree the entire country is facing such thing but don't you think that Delhi as Capital should set a good example for the entire country to follow.

In the good old days the choice of a capital being in the central part of the country made sense. Then it would be sort of equidistant from all parts of the country, and travel esp. of protective forces, to any part would take about the same time . Today, with excellent communications and transport, that need not be. But there is only one reason that could support a capital city in the center. That is safety fom external attack. By stationing our armed forces in all the borders and having the commercial and political capitals somewhere in a land-locked place could make it safer from terrorists, and other external attacks. But then War as a problem-solving proposition is on the way out because of high-tech weaponry, which implies that, in a war of the unbridled kind there won't be any winners. There could only be survivors, perhaps. So, once again it does not matter where the capital lies. The capital city would get more and instant attention as for as fund allocation is concerned. For the problems faced by public in terms of infrastructural breakdowns and shortage of amenities and conveniences, our leaders are to blame, as much as the irresponsible government functionaries. There is also the problem of population to contend.

these are a basic problem of all states and not only Delhi.Delhi has many positive points as compared to other states and thus deserves to be the capital of India.
metros are only in few states ,one being Kolkata but Kolkata is a side state while the capital should be some where in the heart of India i.e.the middle of the country.
Delhi get much elecrticity as compared to other states, we get only 6-8 hours and when bad conditions then its too less than even this.
we stay awake the whole night with mosquitoes in the summer season with sweat and hand fans all around, atleast this isnt the case in Delhi.
we even do not get tank water,we have hand pumps for daily water necessities, and we have ro drink the same muddy water which is bad for our health too.

The problems you say Delhi is facing is universel throughout India. I am a resident of Chennai, and for the last 4 years we are only using the so called Mineral water. Every month we spend nearly Rs.800 to Rs.1,000 on this water.
You are lucky that you spend less on Petrol and other things because of the lesser tax in Delhi. Finally you have got the brand new Airport as well as the Metro which is world class. I have been visiting Delhi once every two months and I find it different every time.
You do not know how lucky you are staying in Delhi. Delhi is a heaven, when compared to the rest of Indian cities.

I think the capital of any country should be at the middle of the country and so every citizen can reach it without more struggling. So,Delhi shall be thanked for the year long capital and the capital can be shifted to somewhere in the center of the country.Cheers!

Though we all used to face such problem, the capital of a nation is not supposed to be like that. But also we don't have any other alternative to meet all of our needs in our country . Fortunately no country is having capital with all the requirements fulfilled, all over the world. Are our politicians are satisfied with such comparison only? But as Delhi is smaller city when compared to the other major cities of India, they can do better and of course they can bring it as a roll model..But they won't do ..

The shooting of Inflation is a universal problem and almost everyone of us are facing that grin situation here. But regarding DELHI as the capital city, Yes I think Delhi should be the Capital of India as it enjoys a distinction of being the capital city for many kingdoms for the past 5000 years. Right from the Mythical days till date, Delhi is the captial of India and it has been called in many names. Hence I feel that DELHI is to be the capital city of India.

I understand the problems you have been facing being a resident of Delhi but this doesn't mena that it should not be the capital of India. The basic idea is to have the capital in the centre of the country (like the olden days kingdom) so that it is easy to govern the country's overall activity.
Inflation in price with reduced income is why wecal it recession. I also understand that all of us are going through a tough situation. I think voting for a good candidate can solve half the problem.
