You should learn to sell yourself. Unless you don't bring to notice, what you have done what your contribution was, its rarely gets the appreciation it deserves. Usually people feel that its the job of your superiors to keep track of your progress and achievements and reward you for that. But thats not really the case. Lets not get into why it is not and what ideally should be. Ideally what should be is rarely what it is practically. I am not being rude or anything. Its just that a plain fact is easier to digest.

You are right. I think it will be good that anyone's progress/achievements should be tracked regularly.

Many people do hard work in but don't get recognized, my thinking is one should do smart work rather than hard work. Then come your way of presentation, how you represent yourself that you have done particular thing. Presentation is very much important to get the credit of your work. Because many times it may happen that you are doing all the hard work and credit goes to someone else. And to overcome this, you need to represent yourself in such a way that credit goes to you and not to someone else. I feel time and experience will help you to overcome this. All the best.

You are right. But, when in initial period of career its difficult to represent yourself by going over your managers.. But, you are right, representing the job done by you is a good idea..

I've alway tried to work hard but not for recognition but for my personal satisfaction in doing the best job that I was capable of doing. I think that if you work hard and disregard whether or not it is recognized, you will ultimately get the rewards that you deserve.
