Hi, all. After graduating from high school many young people have the option to directly enter the work force. Most students who have the opportunity, however, decide to go to college before finding jobs. They attend college to obtain more choices higher salaries, new experience career preparation or increased knowledge. So why do you think people attend college or university?

Basically, the choice of higher education (college and uni) depends on the individual, if you like the independance, and like to study then it is a good opportunity for you to grow. but reality is the students mostly go away from family and friends to embark on an area of life alone. Its an intense course of study. Kind of like marmite, if you love to study and desire independance, the pressure being something you dont mind -then uni is a good way to go. But if you like physically working on things, or working with people in a more casual environment without pressures of work, exams etc - then uni probably isnt the way to go. And contrary to believe NEITHER choice is better than the other. Yeah so one gets you big jobs and maybe nice money... but you have so little time to yourself in those jobs. A career directly from school/college may not be considered the 'best ' option - you become mature at a greater speed than at university - you are facing the harsh reality of work, its just as tough. Plus the money this way can also be pretty goood: plumbing, engineering, mechanics, caring etc all earn great salaries. And they can be done through hands on learning - and you're left with no massive debts. Lol, both routes are hard, and they both make you mature (thats gonna happen no matter what) Society just favours the university route because all the money they fork out for the institutions gets reclaimed through you working. Education is a never-ending process. College education provides a higher degree of learning that will contribute much to the maturity of an individual as a whole. Furthermore, college education allows us to choose, practice and master our chosen fields of specialization. We can't be jack-of-all trades all the time. We need to study and focus on something we call our "major expertise", become competitive and get paid higher, much higher compared to the high school graduates. You need to find your niche , by acquiring a college education. Happy mylotting!

People go to college to get a better education in order to land more rewarding jobs. Statiscally the salary for college graduates doubles over just a high school graduate.
