I would wait if you can. Credit makes it easier to not have to save up for something, but since we have this recession on, I think that you should set aside some of your paycheck so that you can get a better computer and not have to pay interest on your credit card.
Remember, interest is how they get you (Creditors are like thieves!). A little bit of patience can save you a lot of money.
Best of luck,

I swear buy buying Dell computers for many reasons, but mainly because they are a great and reputable company whose products are well worth it and inexpensive. I won't ever buy any other brand as long as they keep up with the name and quality they have all ready proven. I have a Dell 531 Inpiron that I bought off the Dell website (dell.com) and put together the way I wanted it. I suggest oredering online as opposed to purchasing one in store because you can build your own package-choose the monitor size, color, etc. and choose what programs you would like. It is definitely worth taking the time to get exactly what you will need and want!! And Dell offers discounts, promotions, and sales too-when I purchased mine, the shipping was free, which saved me 30 dollars.

I was experience with using Dell computers because in my office using that brand. There is some problem for Dell GX280, like HDD crash, mainboard hang or memory problem. For the next type, the quality of this product more better and I am not found any trouble so far. Same with Laptop, like D600 and D630 .. it's a really good computer.

I would go with Nic's suggestions, if you haven't buy one yet.) I myself haven't buy a complete branded one. I would rather put my budget where I needed it most. The only problem with this is one should have a real grasp of component relations or you have somebody with you for advice. Also some items may work best in other places than in yours, so localize your selection.

I recommend dell. As it is cheap as well as helps you build your own PC from the customize option in its website. Sony is also a good option but still i recommend dell as its parts are also more durable. You can most probably buy a core 2 duo based based laptops as at even 600 $ so i recommend goingn for dell

personally, i would look for a company which builds custom PC's. it's like anything, buying Sony or Dell etc. you pay for the brand name more than the PC. buy an unbranded PC built exactly to your specifications for around $600-$700. you can get a much more powerful PC and any reputable company will still give you great build quality and a stylish, powerful PC.
don't be put off by the pc's being unbranded. you still get the parts made by companies such as Intel, AMD, NVidia, ATI etc...
