I have question that I hope someone can answer for me. I have a poodle that is 3 years old that constantly pushes bowls around and nudges bathroom trash cans. It doesn't matter if the bowl is full or empty she scoots them all around the floor until what I think is where she wants them, then she leaves them there for a little while then proceeds to move them again. It's not only her food bowl, but the other 2 dogs bowls too. Sometimes she puts them all together and other times she spreads them all out. We thought when she was younger this was something she would out grow, but apparently not. For the bath room trash cans, they are a little bit taller than her so she takes her nose and just nudges them over and over until I finally tell her to stop or else she'd probably end up tipping it over. I was thinking maybe she was just trying to see what was in them. Does anyone know why a dog would do this?

Boredom. Do you give her a lot of exercise? Does she have a yard to play in? I've had lots of dogs in my 61yrs, I even spent a fortune on a dog shrink once! LOL! They really are like people but they do have their own personalities! tdemex

She is very active. Runs inside, outide goes for walks she even makes the other dogs play when they really aren't in the mood. I do have to watch her because she likes to take the bowls away from the other 2 dogs when they are trying to eat. It's like she thinks they are all hers.

Sounds like my Jack Russel Terrier. But reading your other response mabe she thought it was a game when she was younger and you thought it was cute so she's stuck in that mode, or could be ADD they get that way like people do! tdemex

LOL ADD you just don't think of dogs having things like that. I have metioned it to her VET before he said it's just the way she is whatever that meant!!! LOL she can be a problem child at times. She would fight with the other dog we got at the same time and he told us when she would be aggressive like that to stop her, put her on her back, put your hand on her chest and hold her down there on her back and tell her no. It was suppose to make her submissive, but she naturally beat her own drum. Don't get me wrong she is a sweet dog, she just has a small problem with territory at time.

There's no telling why dogs do the things they do. She may be trying to tell you something, or maybe she just likes to play with them. Maybe she is just finicky and wants things where she wants them and when! LOL I have always wished that God would let us talk to the animals so that we can find out these things. Try to really pay attention to what is going on around her when she does this and maybe that'll give you an idea. She just may want the attention. They tend to be alot like children. Wish I could be of more help. Try the Dog Whisper on TV, lol....he really does do a great job. Watch it a few times and maybe he'll give you some ideas.

It could be an attention thing. When she was little we thought it was cute, then as she was growing we would get onto her and move them back, but that didn't deter her she kept on moving them. Maybe I should throw some furniture out there and let her rearrange my living room for me :)
