Insurance for thought

I will be the first to admit that I do not know what is going on with Pres. Obama and his wants for government insurance for all.
That being said I have decided that if it is anything like medicaid I do not want it. The reason is that right now my mother in law's doctors have know about a tumor she has for 3 weeks. But because "it is not an emergency" she will most likely have to wait atleast another week before they will do surgery.
They have to do several tests and wait for the results. We were told by one of her doctors last week that if they could admit her to the hospital then they could run the same tests and have the results in less than 48 hours, but because it is "not an emergency, and just a tumor" they have to run the tests in the office and wait for the results (10 days)
Medicaid will not aprove the surgery without the results of these tests. Mean while my mother in law is growing a tumor in her stomach.
Sounds to me like the government insurance is hoping she will die during the wait time and then they will not have to pay for anything.
So, what insurance the government is providing for those who qualify, while it will pay, makes you wait forever if they do not see it as an emergency. What is public insurance for every one going to do?

It is going to take your RIGHT for medical help away. It will be up to the medical whatever to determine if you qualify for this or that and you have WAIT, AND WAIT AND WAIT. I have a friend in Canada that has waited over a year for heart testing for him. He isn't poor either. It is the way it is and it is sad.
To me this is the way governements are going to use this to control the population, PERIOD. They DO NOT care about individuals, they only care about how much it is going to cost or gain them, we as a person are only numbers. If you don't have the money to pay, to go beyond government rules then plan on waiting even longer for medical treatment no matter if your poor or upper middleclass, it won't matter.

I think that you are right about it. I do not have insurance right now, but if I had her same problem and enough cash they would have already done the surgery to remove the tumor. But because it is a government controlled insurance they are making her wait and what could be cancer is just growing more.
