one of my wife's girlfriend was here last night for a visit and they are talking about aling dionisia, manny paquiao's mother ( i know every Filipino knows who she is). my wife was laguhing hard while her friend was saying that why do the reporters need to call her pambansang ina. thats a big tittle for her. yes it is true that her son is our pambansang kamao, but the title of PAMBANSANG INA is not fit for her. for me it should be given to PRES. CORAZON "CORY" AQUINO for she is our first woman president. Aling Dionisia didnt even give anything for the country to be called as the pambansang ina. who's with me?

It's not Aling Dionisia! It's not Cory Aquino! Don't take that title from Ai-ai De Las Alas!
But don't worry, we can still call Aling Dioisia Pambansang Nanay and let's have Tita Cory "Pambansang Mommy". Oh, we already have Ricky Reyes as "Pambansang Mother".
What's with the title anyway? Besides, I don't think that will ever go to our official national records.

@ilovechocolate, Mother Lily is in a different level. She is a universal icon being the "Mother of the Stars".

The world misses president Aquino greatly, she is not only the first female Philippine president, she has also brought about positive changes to the people and the country. Her "yellow" shirt revolution in Philippine had galvanized all Filipino and enable political freedom grow in the country, she is a symbol of freedom for the people.

thanks a lot for gracing this discussion. thank you also for giving nice words to our late president. i no longer gave others my comments for they might already wanted to rephrase their responces. i maybe a little bit touchy about them calling the mom of manny paquiao as pambansang ina (national mother) but the whole world sees that. for me choosing people to be included with the others who are in our national list should be taken seriously. we are one country who are included as the laughing stock of other countries, and it is a pride that President Cory Aquino made something that other country look at us in a different way.

Man, do not take it seriously. They're just making fun of "Aling Dionisia". As for former president Cory, you are of course entitled to your opinion if you think she deserves the "title". Anyway, let's just pray that Cory can still hang in there although let's face it, chances are already very slim as the cancer cells have already metastasized.

it's just a joke...sometimes i do pity her because she's being made an icon for jokes. I hope that we Filipinos could at least respect the mother of the man who brought us Fame...it was never easy for manny to defend his title just to make us all proud...I know aling dionisia's kinda ignorant but she's a mother too and we all have mothers. Can you just imagine if it was your mother being laughed at on national television?

I do not think it is official proclamation that he is declared to be one. And so far there is none that has been declared by any law or decrees. I think that one is just for the fn of it. Being the mother that is the center of attention of everybody else I guess it is no surprising that she will be named like that. She is in her limelight and there is nothing to argue about that.
As for Cory I have my deepest respect for that woman. With the way she handled a transitional government and transferred his power peacefully, I truly admire her for her humility and strength. Her ideals and principles are quite unparalleled to any politicians in existence. I do believe that she is deserving to be called as such if there is such a thing as Pambansang Ina thing.

HahaHahaha... Oh my friend you make ma laugh...
Its funny how Aling Dionisia has taken over the Philippine Media....
From us watching her fainting over praying over Manny Pacquiao boxing to her stint as a dancing 'diva' in that dancing show. and now this, yes, I agree with you it is ridiculous. But as of the moment she is attracting a lot of attention, no matter if it is to ridicule and make fun of her.
Yes, Mrs. Aquino is the epitome of a Pambansang ina and I am still praying for her well-being.

Aling Dionisia is the talk of the town now. She visited Wowowee recently, met the big bosses of ABS CBN.. talking about her fans, her bodyguards, tv projects, commercials.. etc.
Pambansang Ina is definitely not a real title but just sort of a joke.

I think that issue should not be taken seriously. Of course it is ridiculous to think that Pacquaio's mother earned that title for she has not contributed anything to the country other than being Manny's mother. You know it is nothing but a street joke so don't take it seriously.
As for Mrs. Cory Aguino, let's just hope that she can endure the painful ordeal she is facing now. Whatever happens let us remember all the wonderful things she did for our country and cherished her contribution to Philippine democracy. She is the instrument of the peaceful transformation of our once-troubled form of government so she deserves everything to be remembered and praised.
