Hi Helscream, Although my parents didn't read for me, (we had no children's books at the time) I always read for my children and they read for their children today. It's good that you started reading for yourself at such a young age. Reading should be an important part of everyone's life. Blessings.

No, they did not read to me, but did spend time with me at bedtime when I was very little. From about 5 years old on I mostly got sent to bed alone. I always held and rocked and sang to and read to my children. When one was seventeen and the other twenty, I had some college age friends start hanging out here and they needed some literature help for children's literature, so I began reading to them until it was not just an assignment, but it was kind of to make up for what they did not get as children.

I cant remember my parents spending time with me in bed too my mom is outside the country and my dad busy at work so there was really no chance for that just my sisters we played a lot before bedtime... Well I dont regret it though. I would certainly spend lots of quality time to my children when the time comes that I become a parent myself...

you're just like one of my nephews when he was 3 or 4 years old. growing up without a dad and his mom was working night shift most of the time... he started fending off for himself by reading lots of books to himself so he can make himself fall asleep. i witnessed this a few times when i went home from the university.
as for me... i never did experience someone reading me a bedtime story when i was a child. my parents were both busy with work and sometimes get home very late and everyone was asleep already. we didn't have any children's books in our bookshelf as i was growing up because most of my siblings were already in highschool and college back then. everyone's busy with homework etc... all six of them. and my youngest brother was still a baby back then. the books i remembered reading (or pretending to read or lifting pages or whatever a pre-schooler like i was do at that time) were college algebra and the set of encyclopedia that my aunt has in their house beside ours. of course i didn't understand everything i saw in the books... hehehe... just got fascinated with it.
yup... no kiddie stories for me. i started reading those nursery rhymes etc when i started pre-school. hehehe
since there was no television in our house back then (would anyone believe that??? -lol-), i was really very keen on reading... that when i was young my mom forbade me to read too much before sleep. but i kept reading anyway. she usually turns off the lights so sometimes i used candles... hahaha... a bit too much but i really did that before i discovered the old flashlight in the storeroom.
and one time... just one very unfortunate time... i fell asleep with the candles still lighted. well... like any candle left burning... all the wax has melted and burnt the wooden floor near where i was sleeping on a make-shift bed. good thing i woke up before it got my hair. so only two slabs of wooden floor were damaged. lesson learnt that time: you cannot put off the fire of the burning wood with just a glass of water! hahaha i did try that and it wasn't enough. i didn't panic... even when my dad thought i was starting to burn the whole house because the fire started in the bedroom.
... :) just one of those childhood stories i tell my nephews and nieces so they could have a glimpse of the life back when their parents were younger... :)

Hey,
Yea I don't really know why, but whenever I was younger I used to always love hearing bed time stories, I have no idea why. But as I grew older, I started to find that I got bored of them, and just needed to sleep. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

My father used to read to me bedtime stories. I always loved to listen to the stories, because my father is very good at reading aloud. He changes his voice when he reads about different people, and he makes the story more entertaining that way. My father read many different books to me. When I was a small child, he read books for children, and when I got older I started to get interesting in scary stories or ghost stories and then he read those stories aloud to me. My father enjoyed the stories, too
