I Just Ordered Myself A New Watch! What Do You Think Of It?

My New Watch!! - Isn't it awsome? I ordered this from Sears, because of a major Airmiles promotion. Good timing since my other watch stopped today.

In an earlier discussion I mentioned how my wonderful old watch died on me, after 11 great years of service. I'm now relying on the clock inside my cellphone. I got an e-mail from Airmiles.ca telling me that I could get 5x the Airmiles if i ordered something on line by July 31st. What the heck. I decided to go to Sears.ca and find a watch. I found a really nice one!! I'll psste a picture in this discussion. it's actually a mens watch, but I really can't find ladies watches that I can actually SEE!!! Ladies watches just aren't practical, the way they make them. Why do watches have to be "genered" anyway?

well, most ladies are rather dainty, not the roomie, she always has to get men's watches to see them too - hey - great going getting those extra miles!

Most ladies are dainty, or most ladies watches are dainty? I know very few dainty ladies.

ladies' watches are dainty - now, I'm rather dainty in size, short ya know, but I'm like a disaster when it comes to stuff, I tear clothes, I ruin my jewelry - and I know I make them good, so its not faulty workmanship...

if you are looking for a new watch then choose stainless steel ladies watch. it is because this kind of watch will not odd in many seasons and ocassions. unlike gold watch, gold watch seems awkward if one wears it in certain places and attracts unnecessary attention too. that is my two cents, you better check this out - http://hubpages.com/hub/charles-hubert-ladies-watches . your watch above is very nice though..

I have always preferred men's watches, as the bands are bigger and fit my wrists. I have a nice one that showed up in the front yard a few years back, laying under the bushes. I like to buy stuff when it earns me stuff. It is a win win deal.

It is a Citizen watch (very good brand). I have worn it about three years. The date gets to be wrong, but everything else is fine. I have had other things show up, just before I was ready to buy them, and I tell people that God likes to send me what I need. It is a good reminder that I will be provided for.

What an awsome way to get a new watch. I hope I find one under the flowers in my front yard. Does it still work?

I always get a men's watch. Ladies watches are too pretty for me and they aren't didgital. The last time I stared at a clock face and tried to tell if it was 32 or 33 after was the very last time. Give me digital so I can tell time in seconds. My watch is a sports watch but I usually get a leather strap.

pretty:) i guess they figure women wouldn't want a bigger watch. my mom had one with a face that wasn't much larger than a nickel.i wondered how she could see that thing.

What they need to say is "large face, small face" not give it a gender. The bigger the watch, the better! And nothing fancy on it. No decorations, they just make it harder to read.

a watch should be gendered because it needs to go to the right toilet, LOL

Well, whatever makes you happy my friend. If you found a men's watch that serves the purpose why not?

Glad you found something you like. I am not sure why they gender watches, I think its because a man watch says something about him like a timepiece did back in the day. Watches for men have always been big, Grandfather clocks are huge, Big Ben is named after a guy too. I think ladies see watches an accessory and guys see them as a statement. At least that is what the retailers think.

Nice watch. I have at least 12 watches at home, and I am not wearing any...because none is working. I have 3 modern and the rest are vintage...I have to sell them all, because I no longer need them...

If you lived near me, I'd rent one of them, and put a new battery in it to use, till mine arrived! :)

I like it:) When i could wear a watch I used to like those small ones with tiny numbers and all. My mom used to laugh at me and ask me if I could really read the numbers to know what time it was. But I really did. Now I guess i would have trouble even seeing the watch LOL Your choice is a good one, and the watch looks great :)

My husband and others complain their eyes change with age. Mine have always been bad. LOL I'm 27, and I know how they feel.

Sometimes if you go to unusual places.....clothing stores or small FUN jewelry stores and not the big name ones, you can find "fun" watches that have the bigger faces on them that are easier to see and could be colorful and/or fashionable besides. But glad that you find one that works for you.

That's true, but right now I don't have the patience or the money to look at anything fashionable. LOL Also, a nice dark strap goes with everything, and fancy and fashionable, I've found, are code words for "illegible clock face." LOL :)

I tend to like mens watches better - i have a wide wrist and most bands for womens watches do up a the last little hole. I also can see the numbers better on mens watches and they tend to be more often leather or fabric than metal - metal turns me green and itchy! Congrats on the new watch!

You're right, your new watch doesn't look like your husband at all!! :) I think watches are considered "mens" or "ladies" because of the size. You know the stereotypes that women are suppose to be little & petite, so they make watches for ladies smaller. I'm glad you don't pay attention to things like that & you choose what best serves your needs. So you wore your watch out after 11 years. You better tell your husband to be careful. You've got what, 2 years worn off him already?? :)
