We in India are more than 1.3 billion. The World Population is touching 7 billion. In India we have 1000's of languages and dialects. There are many thousands of languages spoken around the world. It is wonderful to hear people speak different languages. Although human emotions like love, affection, anger, jealousy etc are the same all over the world, the way these emotions are expressed by people are different both in terms of language and mannerisms. The pious of all human emotions is LOVE. How do u say it in your mother tongue or ur national language?

A good discussion (a former philologist says). Reminds me on old days about 30 years ago when I started at the university and had the course in basic linguistics!
My native language is Estonian, and about once in five years we're saying with my BF to each other "Ma armastan sind!" You see, Estonians aren't very expressive people
Our relatives and neighbors in Finland are saying: "Mä rakastan sinua."

Hi Prakash! This is a very intersting discussion. You could have started it a bit early so that I could try it out with many people across the globe. Now, I am married and I don't have any more chances to try it. Lol.
Well, my mother tounge is Malayalam, which is the language of southern most state of India, Kerala. In Malayalam, we say, I love you as 'Njan Ninne Pramikkunnu'. Nobody says it in their mother tounge now a days, it is easy to say 'I love you' in English.

Pretty fun topic I just know today that in India also have lots of different dialects, wow.. I wonder, if me who live there I'll get confused about language, 1000 it is not small amount, tremendous it is. In my country Indonesia we also have lots of different language, mostly each province have their own regional dialect or language, but not as much as India. Anyway, even we have much different language, in urban area we usually just use national language that is Indonesian. So, in Indonesian we say "aku cinta kamu" for "I love you"

Hi to all... this is a very interesting discussion... and we learn many ways to say "I Love You" in different languages.... I am from Philippines and here in nation we also have different dialects spoken... Tagalog for "I Love You" has been given so I will share to you all how we say it in our common language here in Mindanao, the Bisaya Dialect.... "I Love You" in Bisaya is "Gihigugma ko ikaw" or "Gihigugma ta ka"... But now a days, only old people uses this way of saying "I Love You"... We, the new generation people, uses Tagalog or English in saying "I Love You"....
I also knew Japanese which is "Aishite imasu (??????)" or "Aishiteru (????)"...
Just in case no one has post it yet...

Hey love is love whether it by the old or by the new generation. Love never fades with age. So if the older people are saying it in their own dialect, it doesnt mean their love is any inferior.. Thakx for ur repsonse and Mein thumse pyaar kartha hoon in hindi India

I Philippines we say mahal kita or iniibig kita in english means i love you. We have also many dialects here in our country. Their are three regions of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. My mother is from Visayas region of Capiz. She is an ilonggo and she says Ginahigugma tika, or palangga kita or nahigugma ako kanimo or i love you in english. In luzon such as in bicol-they say i love you as namumutan taka, in Mindanao they say manisan or masla as in maganda or beautiful. I think their are 87 dialects in the Philippines alone belonging in the ethnic groups with different version of i love you in their own dialects.
