I have been on flights of 14 hours like Singapore to London and London to Hong Kong. I have stopped off to rest and sightsee on a long journey like England to Australia and to New Zealand. How long was your longest flight? Which airports? Have you ever done a stopover to break up a long journey by air? Did you spend hours at any airport waiting for your next flight?

I took a fifteen hour flight from LA to Sydney, Australia. It seemed like a long time, but only when the flight attendant would go down the aisle and bump my elbow with the cart. LOL I actually slept pretty well on that flight. Now when I was flying from New Zealand on my way home, we had a layover in Fiji. Boy was in humid in there! The airport was, well, you probably know how those airports are. But I took full advantage of the gift shop. My sister started getting nervous when I began talking to the other people waiting for their planes. I don't know why. It was a very pleasant layover.

I've been on so many flights over the last 4 years they tend to blend into one another after a while! From memory I think Mumbai to Sydney was around 13 hours or so and Cairo to New York was around 12 and a half hours or so. Thankfully most of the flights I've been taking are short distances of 8 hours or less, so there's rarely as stop-over. I do like to fly Singapore Airlines though, so I reckon I've stopped over at Changi at least 20 times in the last few years!

My longest flight was from the UK to New Zealand a few years ago. I had to fly to London from my home city (Aberdeen) which takes just about an hour. I had a five hour wait at Heathrow for my flight to New Zealand via Singapore. It took about 12 hours to get to Singapore and after a couple of hours waiting time there another 10 or so to get to New Zealand. Very tiring but worth it all the same.

I've never been on a flight nearly that long! I would love to go to New Zealand one day, so hopefully I'll get a chance to take a really long flight! I've flown back and forth between North Carolina and California a lot, and those have been my longest flights. I've never had a direct flight though, I've always had to stop and switch planes somewhere along the way. So each flight was only a couple hours long.

A few months ago I flied to Shanghai to visit my friend. The flight set off from Manchester and stopped at Doha for 50 minutes. It took about 13 hours to arrive Shanghai. But on the way back I waited for 2 hours and half at Doha and because I flew west, it took over 16 hours to come home. It was probably the longest flight I've ever had. For the next two days I still felt like being on the plane.
