Child Protective Services False Reports

Have you ever had a protective agency call you, write you, or stop by your home on behalf of the welfare of your children? Was it a necessary call? How do you view these agencies? I have had CPS called on me twice several years apart by two different individuals. Both of these women had no grounds to make calls, yet they did it anyway, and what's even worse, they lied! Of course, the officials made the mandated contact to me (one in person by an agency social worker, one by a letter in the mail) but it irks me to the core that people will do such things to meddle in people's lives. I am not saying that CPS agencies are not an important factor to the safety and well being of America's children, as some children need to be taken out of the homes they live or the parents really need to change their ways to provide a safe and sound environment for their children. The agencies need to investigate every case reported, and for good reason. But I was infuriated to find out that these women who called on me made things up to report in documentation that I am not doing all I can do as a parent or I am negligent somehow in my role as a mother. What better way to screw with someone than to call officials on them involving their children? Has this ever happened to anyone? Or have you seen cases as such within your family or close friends?

My ex mother in law was so upset that I got remarried, she called CPS and made a report that my husband was molesting my 4 year old. Went through HELL to get that cleared up but I stayed on top of CPS, never let them have to call me. I made them interview my daughter one on one with an officer to clear my husbands name. They have to check out every incident which they SHOULD but people make hurtful accusations. People making obvious harrassing calls should be prosecuted.

No I haven't had them called on me,but I have had them called on my son and his ex-wife. They called him one day and said they had a report that the house where the kids lived was beyond repair and that the kids were in danger. He laughed it off, thinking it was a prank call and answer them by saying oh sure you can see the sky in my bathroom. It wasn't two hours later they showed up. Of course that was no way the truth. He was so furious and at the same time hurt over this situation. The report was investagated and closed immediatly. He no longer plays jokes when someone calls him.
