The other day we were surfing the channels and the move Step Up 2 was on, now I have seen it before a couple times...and luckily my hubby was on his computer so he wasnt paying attention to the tv much and I was able to keep it on and watch it... I love dance movies!!! They make me want to get up and move, dance... then again I was in dance class for 8 yrs when I was back in high school as I wanted to be a dancer back then...very interested in all aspects of dance back then.... then of course I got out of high school and boys got in my life... things kind of changed then!!
so now I live vicariously through the dance movies.... do you love those movies?? Do you have a favorite one that you can watch over and over just because of the dancing in them??

I am not interested in watching movies like this. Although I watch different kinds of movies, but this is not the type I like. I prefer to watch the concerts much more. As the dancing and singing performance will be great.
I love China

that is what is so great about entertainment and movies, how there are so many that reach out to different audiences and we have a choice in what watch.

Yes they are very entertaining, and if they make kids want to get up and try to do that and get in shape...then it is even better!!

Yeah, I really like this kind of movies. 4 movies that I have watched was High School Musical 1, 2, and 3 and also Hair Spray. I like the way they dance and sing and I hope someday I can also make a show like that. All songs are really exciting to hear. But actually it's just a dream because I can only put it in my mind without able to make it into reality. I'm not an artist, I can't dance, and I don't have any resources to make it happen. But, those movies I have watch are really inspiring.

Hello bookreadermom08 this is checkmail and often had watched some dancing theme based movies which i like some. There was one movie about an dance, which was so inspiring for me that it nearly left up all my spirits as well as made me emotional. The flow, the smoothness, the class included in the dancing movies is just so cute and wonderful, just like an ice cream.Even i do dance sometimes watching such movies.

I agree that it is bubblegum programming just something entertaining, not a lot of nutritional content... but if it encourages more people (esp kids) to actually get up and dance maybe we'll be a fitter and happier nation! We go through cycles like this, I remember dance being HUGE around the Fame/Flashdance era, and everyone I knew growing up in dance wanted to be Madonna or Janet Jackson.so i like it very mich.

1) you make a very good point...if it makes kids want to get up and dance and be more fit...that is a big plus in my book!!!!
2) I was one of those kids hooked on fame and flashdance...LOL and when I was in high school I was also in dance and I really thought that one day I would be in a Janet Jackson video...of course that didnt exactly turn out that way...but in my mind I was gonna!!!!!

Oh I love dancing movies, I enjoy a lot if there are great dancing and there's battle among the dancers. I enjoy Stomp The Yard, Step Up 2, Center Stage etc. But please for all dance movie makers, make te story a litle bit good, at least make the romance not cheesy, make the story less predictable. Funny thing is, one of the worst movie I ever saw was also dance movie, Center Stage 2, it's only straight to DVD movie, but the story and acting went all over the place. Oh yeah, one thing they should remember is to cast perfect actor to play the character. They often pick actors who had an adequate dance moves, it would be a pleasure to watch an actor who really can act and dance, like John Travolta for example.

I do too. I love dancing and attended dancing classes for about 2 years and I think I still have that excitement about dancing. So when I see any movie related to dancing I just can't skip it, I have to watch it. It doesn't really matter what kind of dance it is, as long as there is music and people dancing beautifully to it, it is enough for me. Though I attended dancing school with no intentions of becoming one, I am still very much in love with dancing.

They're great! I think it has something to do with always wanting to be a dancer but never really having the opportunity to do so. But yes, I love them to pieces. There's something so beautiful about watching dancers. Step Up 1 & 2 were great! Another favourite of mine was Center Stage :)

Oh I loved Center Stage!!!!!!! I know, those movies always draw me to them and I know it has to do with always wanting to be a dancer myself...but never fulfilling that dream.

I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate dance movies. Everytime one of those movies comes on the TV I cringe. They're just not for me. Most of the time I find the plots so rediculous it just makes me feel stupid. They all seem to follow the same basic formula.
Tough guy lives in a ghetto part of town and likes to breakdance with his friends
Tough guy is "discovered" by some underground dancing team/has his team promoted to some dance contest.
Dance contest is the last chance for Tough Guy to leave "da hood" and start a new life.
It's rediculous. Atleast to me.
However I cn acknowledge that these movies are enjoyable to some people, and this is only my opinion. I"m sure I watch some movies people find equally stupid.
