wanting to go back to school

I've been to college (well vocational schools to be exact), two of them actually. The first degree I never did anything with cause I need a 1 year internship to get my license and I couldnt' find one for the past 6 years. The second was alright I guess. the school was a joke but it got me the job I have now which isn't that bad. There's just no room for advancement here and I am not prepared to settle for this crappy paying job.
I know I need to really think about what i want to do in life. I was thinking about medical records or a sonogram tech or an IT specialist. I can't decide yet. Plus financially I'd have to rely on grants and scholarships so that makes it pretty hard to do right now. I'd like to start in the fall unless I can somehow find a better job doing something I actually like as well as for the money.

Is it possible for you to relocate temporarily to a place where you could do the internship? Perhaps there is a grant you could apply for or someone could sponsor you?

well when you have a family it's hard to do an internship. I'm on call all the time, Im basically their slave for a year. It would have been cool if I could have found one when I was 19 cause I didn't have the roots sewn. Even if I could find a place there would be many scheduling conflicts and I'm not sure that I would be okay to move away while my family stayed here and never see them.

I guess that means you still have to find a new plan then.

I somehow agree with Canellita. If some important schedules won't permit you, then don't force it.

IT specialist would be nice. Database Administrator is a career that is related to IT and my professor said that here in my country, that career pays six figures a month which is pretty kick-a$$. If you really want to go back to school and study, you might want to consider getting a degree in IT.

Not knowing what either of your first two degrees are for, makes it a bit difficult to give an answer. When you went the first time was it something that you were passionate about? Moving is certainly hard when you have a family. Again not knowing what your situation is, I am guessing that commuting for the internship is out. A few things to think about: If the degree is something that you are passionate about, after an internship is there an opportunity to work where you currently live? If there is: missing a year with you family would be hard but it is such a short amount of time in the big scheme of things. Especially if the ultimate reward is great enough. Another thought: Have you consider an online degree program?
I could go on and on, but it is difficult with so little information. My best advice, talk to your family and do a pro's and con's list, you may be surprised at the out come.
