Is it Correct?

Recently my uncle took me to a Dinner party being conducted by a BLUE CROSS SOCIETY. I was shocked to see that some of the dishes are Non-Vegetarian items such as Chicken, Mutton, Fish and prawns. I felt that it is not correct on their part to include Non-vegetarian items in a party being conducted by a society that call themselves to be the protectors of the Fauna. When i asked to some of the Blue cross members about the inclusion of Non-Vegetarian items, they replied that there is nothing wrong in having Chicken, Mutton and fishes as they are considered to be the food items. I just couldn't agree to their views. According to me, If you eat Non-veg, there is absolutely nothing wrong in that one. But please do not call yourself a BLUE CROSS member and you are trying to save the FAUNA's across the globe. If you really care about the protection of all the Living beings, then please do shun yourself from eating Non-VEG. Right from Tiger to LAMB/ Shark to Small fish/ and other insects everything come under the part of FAUNA which is being safe guarded by the BLUE CROSS SOCIETIES. I don't find any justifications in their answers. Recently, in my area the BLUE CROSS MEMBERS held a demonstration against the killing of Stray Dogs but they enjoy Chicken dinner at their home. Is this correct? I feel this is totally wrong. Friends, please pour in your valuable opinions regarding this issue. Have a great time.

I am not familiar with Blue Cross, but there is a difference in being against senseless killings and using an animal for food. Native Americans revere, even worship animals and would never kill one senselessly, but they still use(d) them for food, clothing and tools. The point is that just because you think animal cruelty and destruction for pointless things is wrong doesn't mean you have to be a vegetarian.

In many countries including Egypt, India and mesapatomia people worshipped certain animals and used certain animals as food, clothing and tools. But I believe that they proclaimed to be the animal guardians. I never mention that you need to be a pure vegetarian to call yourself a guardian of animals. I just wanted to mention that in a Dinner meet of an organisation which call themselves to be the protectorate of the animals, it is quite ridiculous to include the Meat diet as it holds no meaning.

I have a question for you. Are you a vegetarian? I had in mind the Blue cross society is an organization that works for animals, mostly they take care of street dogs and do an operation to them so that they won't give birth to offsprings. I didn't know that they work to take care of Fauna. I would enjoy a non-vegetarian food compared to a vegetarianm dinner. I am sorry to say my personal opinion. I don't think there is something wrong for them having non-veg even though they work for Blue Cross. Alteast they would have avoided it in the Blue Cross dinner. But, I will never tell them to be vegetarians thorughout their life because they work for Blue Cross. It there will be a rule like that, then it will be difficult to find people to work in that society.

It is a new information to me tht some of the animal welfare organizations give membership only to vegetarians. That makes sens. Anyway, thanks for the information. I am a non-vegetarian, but I don't like to eat too much of non-veg. I will have in once in a while - once in week or two weeks.

Yes, I am a vegetarian. The blue cross society once launched a save tiger campaign and only after that even I came to know that they are concerned about Fauna too. I am at any case not against Non vegetrianism but what I would like to putforth is that people who enjoy Nonveg delicacies need not boast themselves to be the protectorates of all social animals. 3 years ago some blue cross society members opposed the offerings of animals and birds as sacrifice in temples conisdering them to be an inhuman activity. Yes, agreed that in Hinduism, nowhere it is mentioned that you need to make animal sacrifice. But if the same members enjoy the food from that animals, it is no way justified and i feel that they are the members in BLUE CROSS just for name sake. I have recently come across one more ANIMAL WELFARE Organisation called PETA where to you must be a vegetarian to become a member of that organisation. Stray dogs are the real threat to our society. When they go rabid, they attack anyone and no one has raised an issue regarding that. But unfortunately the stray dog population in our city is getting increased at an alarming rate.

I am not a vegetarian and I don't know much about blue cross policy. My opinion is that meat is all part of the food chain. I don't believe in the senseless killing of animals but some animals are raised for the sole purpose of food for those who are not vegetarian. I am not saying you are wrong in any way. Just saying that not everyone feels as strongly as you do and not everyone is a vegetarian. If blue cross claims to promote a non-vegetarian lifestyle then it is a bit weird for them to be serving meat at a dinner. chicken and fish still meat really.

I happen to be a vegetarian and have been one since I was 7 years old. :-) I respect your opinion and can understand why you felt the way you did seeing meat dishes on the menu. I have to say I was a bit ignorant about what the Blue Cross was as I live in New Zealand so I quickly took a look at their site. It seems to be a pet charity, education and adoption organisation like the SPCA we have here. There are many animal rights supporters ect.. whom eat meat. Perhaps this is as many people have different views about the rights of domestic animals and farm animals. Perhaps you might argue they are being hypocritcal. However I personally try not to judge if they are contributing to animal welfare in some way than this is a start. We are all human and noone is perfect. Many meat eaters find it very difficult to convert to a full vegetarian or vegan diet. As long as these members have good intentions and a willingness to contribute to the organisation then im okay with them eating meat. The Blue cross society doesn't appear to be that concerned with vegetarian diets wheras the PETA society does. Have a lovely day :-)

That is a great reply from your side and i appreciate that. It is nice to hear the PETA society is following a vegetarian practise among its members. I am not against Non Vegeatarians but i still i wish the people who consider themselves to be the protectorates of animals follow the practise of vegetarian diet since it justifies your action. Thanks for your valuable response and have a great day. Happy Mylotting. Cheers:-)

Yes I agree with your comments that the people of blue cross society should not kill and eat the animals for their pleasure.. The main aim and duty of the blue cross society is to safe gaurd the animals whether it is fit or not they have to safegaurd the animals and if they only started killing them and eating them then people will feel bad those who believ about the BLUE CROSS SOCIETY if they continue with such activites..

Yes you are correct and I appreciate your views. Nice to see a person who has the same mindset of mine regarding the issue of Blue cross. Yes, if they are a member of animal protection society, then they cannot kill the animals for food as a Human can survive in this world without eating meat. There are many vegetarians across the globe. I do not mean that people must not eat Non vegetarian food but those who kill animals should not consider themselves to be the guardians of Animals. If kindess is confined just to an animal or two, it doesnt mean that they can become a part in blue cross society.

i would like to bring a scientific angle to this discussion. sure enough i do agree with my friend here who is against mistreatment of animals.and a lot has been said about how we need to protect animals and how it is bad to cause harm to them. well for starters can anyone pls tell me dat u know for sure dat plants do not feel pain.it has been proved plants respond to sunlight, water and even music and talking. so from some weird sense they are also alive. so from a foodie point of view u should not eat plants either. but then wat will one do. plastics are non-biodegradable and cannot be consumed for sure.so we have to eat something and finally we have to chose between animals or plants. there is no such thing as protecting animals by not eating them. animal organisations should be worried about animals which are endangered and going extinct and work for freedom of animals like horses and donkeys and i am sure dats wat they do.i dont think any plant or animal has gone extinct because of humans eating them. maybe plants do but i dont know about animals. these are things which are included in natures equation and they will be taken care of. so it is really no big deal for blue cross members to eat animals. if we are all proud of indian soldiers because they save us from enemies at the border ten i would say i am proud of chicen which keeps millions of indians healthy everyday! jai hind!
