lets have a test, there are only 2 seats available in a bus,and you are there, one is next to a gorgeous person, the other is next to one dressed shabby who is dirty and smelly and ugly, so where are you supposed to sit? the first one, or the second one? share your opinions, thanks.

I would usually not care so much about the appearance, but I would most likely sit next to the person who is clean and well dressed. In society the cleaner someone is, the safer (which can be untrue), and the dirtier someone is, the more dangerous. Also, who wants to sit next to a smelly person and have to put up with smelling them, at least with a clean well dressed person you would not have to smell any bad odors during the trip. Most people would do the same, unless if they were somewhat embarrassed or shy to sit next to a "gorgeous person" hehe.

I think this test is not correct to test whether you are appearance oriented or not. Even if there is a very good looking person who is smelly and dirty, no1 would like to get closer to him/her. The test should be like : You enter the bus, there are two seats, one next to a very good looking well dressed person and other next to a well dressed clean but ugly looking person with a big squint or something. Where would you go and sit? My answer would be " on the seat which looks clean and good " assuming that both are window seats or both are aisle seats ! lol

yes, your question seems to be more reasonable, once i asked some girl "what do you think is the most important for a man's appearance? " 80% of them answered"NEAT". i think so. Have a good day. Best of Luck.

Not only me but most of us will choose to sit beside the neat dressed man.If your question is like there is only one seat left with the ugly man, then there may be different answers. But with this question,I too will like to sit near the neat and clean man.A shabby and ugly man will not be preferred.Cheers!

hi,srganesh thanks for your comments. Absolutely you are right, if there is only one seat, then there will be different answers, because i experienced this situation once, there is only one seat in the bus, then i took it without hesitation, but after that, i really regret for my action, because there was tons of smell wafting into my nose, at that moment i know the reason why so many people stood there instead of sitting here.. Nice responses, Happy MyLotting.

I think I'd prefer to be with the clean one. If the case is that both of them are clean, and one is handsome while the other is (let's use the blunt term) ugly, I don't care who sits with me, as long as they don't look dangerous. Self-preservation always comes first in human beings, as well as in animals, as a first instinct, so this should not be a wonder. Right?

well i don't know if i'd call it appearance oriented, but i'd rather not sit beside someone who smells. I'll sit beside the gorgeous person, even if deep down inside i'm wishing i wore my favorite jeans today. lol. where would you sit?

Its horrible to even think that I could feel this way! but I would sit next to the cute person. Who would want to sit next to some dirty smelly person when you have the option of choosing the nice looking clean smelling person? Its a shame that humans feel & think this way. But thats just the way we have been raised unfortunatly. Good question :o)

jerryplum yes I can see the most obvious answer would be yes I would sit next to the gorgeous person. well I am going to be different,no"i do not like bad smells and the dirty appearance, but I also am leary of gorgeous persons too. so I would sit next to the shabby, dirty smelly person who is also ugly. why, because what you do to the least of them,'you do unto me.of course all self righteous hypocrites will avoid'and detest the odd one. but as this person may well be Christ'testing us, I will take that despised seat. Maybe I can find out what is wrong with this person, why the dirt and odor? Now all of us should know ugly does not mean bad at all. Maybe in some way I could help this poor creature who is dispised by all.NO I am not an appearance oriented person, I am oriented by what s inside anyone, the real person behind the facade.
