"Don't postpone joy until you have learned all of your lessons. Joy is your lesson."
- Alan Cohen
I try to live the moment by putting aside the realities of life and then again pick it up later. What about you? Do you postpone your joy and leave it to enjoy last after you finish your tasks? Or you just enjoy the moment putting down the baggage of burden for a while?

That's so good to hear Raju. Life is but hurdles. Why not take it in the right spirit and live the joyful moments.

A very relevant question Mimpi and I say so because we invariably postpone that moment of joy and most of the time with the intention that the joy experienced at the end would be more. It may apply for certain things, but i always have felt we live for the moments of joy and every opportunity we get to experience them must be taken in the right perspective.
I would rather take of on an impromptu kind of a holiday and get the joy of it than planning it over weeks. The experience of doing the things at the moment is different and actually gives a great relief in the monotony.
I guess i need to relish these moments more. Thanks for bringing this up.

This doesn't come as a surprise, knowing you. You have always lived your joyful moments and initiated others to do the same. You are joy personified.

Hi Mimpi!
Idealistically speaking I do not put off my moments of joy. I love to live and spend the moments of joys, which come my way. I know that those joyous moments are not going to come again. I believe that 'happy times' do not get re-cycyled frequently, therefore, I awake myself to 'live' those moments. If I have to enjoy any moment e.g. meeting with one of my best friends, I will immerse myself in the meeting and chatting, at that moment, I will forget about all my worries. I always believe in counting my blessings, when I get upset. I in fact do not believe in postponing anything, live apart my joyous moments. I believe whatever comes my way should be enjoyed. Proscrastination may rob all the pleasure of 'joy'.
Good Post!

Hi Mimpi,
I felt I should respond the poem like discussion with a composition of my own.
Not waiting for reply did I proceed and holding you
By your arms started my march
Some limping moments did of course
Sneered my voyage
Centuries ago was planted a sapling of rage and odorous angst
Was my ship sailing in the air or on the ice
Knew I not
Scary faces of lost time
Frowned at my dark visage
Thousands of questions
Hurdled my way
I was not to answer
I was a vagabond
Nor a living ghost
I had put your body
On my shoulders
The dreams differed
My anger wore
A swollen sore
Pleasing pain all over
King’s men were on my way
Sabred their points with my
Frowning whisper
Scampered all
One more night
Journey would sleep a long slumber
You would still be with me
Am I looking back
Was a soldier by my own right
Shining deaths were my company
Not running perils to save the prince
I am truncating the beguiling hopes
Just a night
Some hours
Some moments away
And all tale is told in bold letters.

I don't postpone "Joy". Joy is apart of my life and apart of my being. It is a gift given to me by the creator and though I may not always be happy, because happiness is based on happenings, I always have inner Joy and I am never utterly without peace, hope, or Joy.

I am a firm believer that small and simple joys of life should not be missed. Tasks can wait ;they are always there.Cooking food, eating, washing can be done 5 or 10 minutes or even 1 hour late. But if we fail to enjoy the visit of a magpie robin or a parrot they cannot be made to order. Two days back, a parrot suddenly sat on my window sill [when I was busy packing lunch for my officegoing son and doing work on the stove.I just left it and called everyone to tiptoe into the room and see it.The sense of wellbeing is still with me.

I should have known that quote in my earlier years of life. I was lonely since I felt my responsibility with my family. When I started earning for our living, I have set aside my love life and other special events of my life. If only I had a at least with someone whom I can share love and affection, I should have been joyful despite of the frailties of life.

I do both. Depends on how important the task is. But I don't avoid enjoying life for day to day tasks 100% of the time, that is for sure!

I believe life is ment to be enjoyed. I invite people to come places with me for fun times. Iam paying their way. They say no im sad because im broke. Or no im not finnacially stable, etc. I do not understand these people. I tell them forget it for awhile come and have fun now. You can worry about that stuff later. Take a few hours to enjoy your life.

I enjoy the moment, while it lasts, then pick up where i left of to face the realities of life again. The realities of life will always be there, so why postpone your joy. It is better to enjoy the moment as a kind of break from all the difficulties we are faced in this life.

As a rule I usually ‘delay gratification’ until my more unpleasant tasks are over and done with although there are some joyful instances that I would not put off like a hug from my child a nice piece of music or call from a friend. Some things are just there to be embraced as they occur, life is too short!

Well, foe me, I kind of suggest that when you feel joy then just wnjoying it and do not try to postpone it. If you cosider too much when you meet joy then some tinny bad stuff might borther you from joy and the joy itself might be joyless,or even none joy any more.

I do think that it's important to embrace joys when and where we can find them because they can inspire us to keep going! Big, small it doesn't matter! I'd like to think of myself as someone who looks for those simple, happy moments at every opportunity rather than holding back on them. Seize the moment and use the motivation it brings to spur us on to even greater heights I reckon!

Hi Mim,
If something comes along to give me joy, I take it and enjoy it as long as possible. The rest of what life can wait. Every moment is so fleeting that if you put it aside, it may not be there later. Life changes so quickly that I don't dare take advantage of whatever joy comes my way. Hugsss

Hello Mim. I embrace each joy, large and small, the moment they come my way. I also love to actually creates joy. I see no advantage in postponing it :)
