If Toure moves to Man City...

Does it show that he's just moving for the money or does it show that Arsenal lack ambition and he's leaving a sinking ship? In recent years, it has seemed that Arsenal's players are generally considered available, we saw this last year with the moves of Flamini and Hleb snd previously with players like Henry and Vieira. Whilst I can understand Arsenal accepting offers which mark good business for them, I'm surprised at players being willing to leave for inferior clubs or clubs where they are not guaranteed first team football (as was the case with Hleb to Barcelona) If Toure does leave, who do you think Arsenal will replace him with?

I think toure will replace by Thomas Vermaelen or Philip senderos because they are enough good for DEFENDER arsenal

Senderos seems to be on his way out to Everton, he's never really looked that good in the Prem, although he did a decent job out on loan at AC Milan last year. Vermaelen should be good but remains untested in the Prem and it could take him a while to come up to speed with the game.

I agree, Arsenal have always struggled to keep their players even major ones however they had little option in many of those cases. I also agree with the previous Mylotter who has pointed out that Toure is probably one of the weakest Arsenal defenders anyway! It's impossible to know who will come in as replacement but Wenger is smart and will no doubt have someone lined up. And of course they are all moving for the money, Chelsea did the same and Prem players for some reason where happy to get paid for sitting on the bench all season. Man City are about to do the same lol they have like 15 strikers! I look forward to seeing them struggle! :)

Toure was awesome up until a season or so ago, I think you can look at it two ways - one being that they've sold him on at the right time, or in a negative light, you could say that they've sold an experienced player who adds a lot to the squad. Arsenal's tendencies to sell players when they get into their late 20s, may prove profitable but ultimately I believe it backfires with not enough older players to show the youngsters through and add an air of experience to the squad. Scholes, Giggs and Neville are well past their best at Manchester United, the same could be said for Carragher at Liverpool but their overall know how and wisdom is definitely of a benefit to the squad on a day to day basis. If Arsenal fall off the pace this year again - we'll hear "the players are young" again but no one forced Wenger to sell off his older players.

I reckon if they get £15M for Toure, Arsenal will be more than happy. They still have Gallas, Djourou and Silvestre (there are probably others who I cannot remember just now) who can play centre-half. Knowing Arsene Wenger he will have a couple of young players lined up when Toure leaves.

To be candid I'm happy that Kolo Toure is leaving Arsenal. The reason is simple, the past few years have exposed him as the weakest link in the defence of Arsenal. It was easier for attacking players of the opposing team to by-pass him and his rate of recovery became poorer. I don't disagree that on he is a good defender on a good day anyway. I can't say who Arsene Wenger is eyeing to replace Toure but I'm sure the manager has his own plans. I equally believe that Wenger knows that many will not forgive him if he ends next season without a prestigious trophy; the least expected of him is the FA Cup. I equally feel that players should carefully weight the options of money and career advancement before moving. If care is not taken, Toure may be ending his career prematurely.

At the moment anyone who moves to Man City is doing it for the money, but that isn't to say that they aren't going for future success as well. Look at the Milan teams of the 1980s the players went there for huge money but were ultimately a successful team. Some players will turn down City and that show sthat there is more than money although how much difference is there for a professional footballer between 90000 a week and 150000?

If its about Toure then i mostly think that its because of money ....why will someone leave arsenal and join a club like Manchester city - i don't understand that at all ....as we all know arsenal is a under a lot of pressure to clear their debts so they are also trying to sell their big name players and spend it on young talents instead .....its sad for the arsenal fans as all their star player are leaving one by one if you really compare this team with the team of 2004 you will see the difference .... a steep downfall really ....I heard Viera could return to Arsenal ....that will atleast give them some hope.....
