I run XP at the moment and am very happy with it, however I am interested in moving over to Windows 7. If I install a free upgrade does this mean I am stuck with 7 and have to buy it once the trial is up? Or will I be able to go back to XP.
Also, if anyone has tried it, can they give me honest opinions on its performance, ease of use and memory handling?

I am using windows XP too, but right now it really looks like Windows 7. I really like the appearance of windows 7, and some its new features. If you just like the appearance of windows 7, and you are not yet sure on your upgrade you might be want to try a Windows 7 transformation pack for XP.

If you are very happy with windows xp, you should not upgrade.
However if u really must upgrade,
check that your current system supports the new os.
That you have enough hdd, memory, processor,
and that there are drivers for your hardware available in win 7.
Also you may have a friend that already has it,
and you could take a sneak peak before deciding.
Or go to a computer showroom and do the same thing.
Those who claim win 7 is faster then xp are liars.
Both vista and win7 are somewhat based on xp,
and while there are tons of improvements in both systems
they will cost performance and resources.
Win 7 is a great option for those who got sick of vista,
because it is indeed faster then vista, and gives less issues.
Win 7 is also a great option for those who need improved directx 10 support,
wich is unoficially available in win xp, but doesn't work quite well.
That is one of the main reasons people went to vista and now win7.
Games and graphics, directx 10, 11 or whatever its current version is
wich is not officially supported in windows xp.

Yes i was very happy running windows XP. I used to think and even now think vista is peice of junk and a rocking OS like XP doesnt deserve such a poor succesor. Well, after seeing vista being critiscized for 2 years since its launch in 2007, microsoft now has an answer: Windows 7 ;A ROCK SOLID OS THAT COMBINES THE FEATURES OF VISTA AND XP INTO A MORE RELIABLE, FAST AND SECURE OS. It has many cool things such as the new Redesigned Taskbar that allows user to accomplish tasks faster than before, new windows search, new aero features as well it introduces a new device manager, virtual; folders called library to aggregate content from all over the hard disk, and new networking system called homegroup. The new desktop personalization options, fast boot and shutdown times add to its excellence. i strongly you may head forward towards windows 7 without any hesitence .
