I love all animals and I'm not afraid of any animal, but the other day I went to visit a close relatives and at there place they have kind of a large female pit mix, and she gets really exited whenever people come to visit, and she jumped up on me to lick my face and shes kind of heavy and she nearly knocked me back, lol I couldn't help but be a little nervous but the dog is really very sweet, and she was just trying to be friendly, I just wasn't use to such a large animal jumping up on me like that hehe.
Do get kind of nervous when you visited a friend or family member and there large dog jumps up?

I do feel nervous because of that.
Be honest, I do not like pet much.
If a big dog jumps on me, I will scream out loud and hush it till it goes away.

If you scream, you'll just excite the dog more! Loud noises encourage dogs to continue with the behavior they're doing!

1st. of all that person that owns that dog should have their head examined. With all the controversy going on with Pit Bulls why in the world wouldn't they train that dog to " NOT " jump up on people. 2nd whether or not the dog is a Pit Bull it should be trained to " NOT " jump up on people.
In my country Pit Bulls are on a Dangerous Breed list. It started because bad people use these dogs to fight in a pit " Michael Vick " and many people before and after him. They are generally on the agressive side, Terrier Breed, and tend to be agressive when intised to fight or protect property. That is not all the breed does.... They are a good family pet and a very good dog as a total breed.
All it takes is some a--hole to use these animals the wrong way and front page news. Then these same people kill the animals that don't perform well..
In general it is not good dog behavour to jump up on people, for any dog..
REMEMBER ALWAYS LUV/ CARE FOR YOUR DOG/ PET, THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U..

i'll be nervous for sure if i really dont know that dog. it may knock me or pin me down... cant really tell what will happen. huge dogs are heavy and if something goes wrong and i fight with it, i'll end up loser.
i have a huge dog too, and he is on leash, many are really afraid of him because he is really big.

hello,
you want to hear something funny?? i am more nervous around little yippie dogs that run at my feet and ankles then big dogs lol
you can have a newfoundland,st bernard, husky, golden about anything and i want to hug it.now a pitnbull mix or doberman pincher...yeah maybe a little nervous! as a rule tho i am not nervous at all around large dogs, just want to take them all home!!
i normally just reach down to pat their head or pet them.now i will knee them in the chest gently if it looks like they would knock me down but havent had that happen.

Me too. It is very troublesome when you get bit by a dog because you have to get injection of vaccine ASAP.

No, I don't get nervous. You just have to turn your body to the side and they can't jump on you. Then once they've calmed down you give them affection. I spend a lot of time around dogs, so I'm very comfortable around all sizes of dogs.

me...not at all. But i love dogs too. I'm more liable to fall down with them and pull them into a cuddle and give them lots of attention, which is what they really want. I'm a huge animal person so i always look forward going places where animals are going to be if not to play with them, then to at least see them. In fact i need to go to the zoo that's around these parts. haven't been yet...shame on me

Oh yes I do get nervous especially if the dog is bigger than me hehe. I am a petite woman and usually when an adult German Shepherd or a Husky jumps on me, they're taller than me hehe.
But I don't get too nervous like I wanted to run away from them or scream. I'm used to having dogs around though my pets are small breeds. But we do had a Labrador and she used to pull all around the backyard when she running. That's how big our Labrador was or that's how small I am hehe.
Ciao!

Im not really nervous if a big dog jumps up at me as i own big dogs myself but i am always very wary and aware as to what could go wrong in a split second. I think that the strength of big dogs can be very intimidationg especially when they are barking at you.

i feel the same about big dogs. You hear so many horror stories in the news and papers about people being attacked by dogs,i'm left feeling unsure about every dog that comes near me, especially big ones. if i'm walking down the street with my children and a big dog is on the same side coming towards us, i make a point of crossing over to the other side.i fear for my children.

hello apples99,
Of course I will get nervous and afraid at the same time. I was bitten once when I was small and it's not easy. The dog might be friendly and all but you'll never know his modes. Afraid that the dog has no shot from rabbies is more scary.

i do not like dogs jumping up on me. and yes, if i do not know a dog i tend to be afraid. i am cautious with dogs. we have one and she is very assertive with other dogs so we are working on her with that. she is good for the most part with people especially our immediate family but one of my husbands friends came over once and all she did was bark and growl at him. maybe she knows something we do not. i am not an animal lover per say so i am not thrilled with any animal jumping on me are wanting to be in my lap. i am more of a people person, especially children and babies.

Hi Apples, I would be very scared; however I will try not to do anything panicky (such as screaming, running ), else the dog will be frightened (or confused), and start thinking that it's under attack.

big dogs at home. They play with me or even
stand up watching me washing dishes or even while
im preparing for cooking.
I used to it because i have two Labradors.
These Labradors are friendly and yes active
to play with.thank's.

My aunt love dog and she has 3 big dog. that's the reason why I feel a little bit afraid everytime I visit her home. fortunately, she understand this and tied her dog for a while if i come. I don't really like animals,, I have bad experience with dog when I was child so if a large dog jumps up on me, I'll shout for help and cry! I hope that will never happened to me
