I'm a lover of the arts. It's sad to see Filipino independent films not earning much and no support from the Philippines Films industry. to think the directors, scripwriters and authors of these films are the best in the country. I don't understand why Filipino people love to watch romantic films that have predictable and cliche style. duh...that's why i don't watch Filipino films except if it's a good comedy or drama by premier actresses. I also hate the young stars on the Filipino movies today...They're not even good in acting and all they do is making pa "cute" on the screen..

I am in early 40s and I used to love local films especially directed by top calibers like Lino Brocka, Ismael Bernal and others. You're right, I don't see good actors now, and if there are they are not being tagged as actors but idols.
Piolo Pascual and Dennis Trillo for the male, and Maja Salvador for the actress. But then, the projects were not as good as during the 80s.
If we want quality films, then I think we should not tolerate piracy as I believe this is main reason why top producers are hesitant to make good movies.
Thanks!

yes, piracy is one problem and the biggest problem for me is that most Filipinos are more interested into movies that have handsome or beautiful actresses. they don't care if the story line is too common and highly predictable..I hate it when romantic movies gets into the blockbuster list. i'm happy though that Piolo supports Independent films now...at least people can probably notice it because some hunk actor is one of the cast.
