No matter how good your English is be prepared to speak slowly to us because we have a hard time understanding each other sometimes. :)
Also depending on where you are going to be there might be public transportation and there might not be.
Do you know yet which state you will be in?

I have never been to China but I believe your country is large and different in different regions. This is the way it is in America. You may find that America is a lot more open than China when it comes to people speaking what is on their minds. I do not know what part of America you will see, so that will help a little in the discussion.

dear friend
Thanks for your response,I know America is a country which include many people from all over the world.I think it is the most important reason why I choose study in America. But,I find the language is a hindrance for me.I plan to take a good command of English in three month. What's more,I suppose you have never been to China. If you have some time, welcome come to China.I'm glad to be your travel guide.
Finally, could you give me some introduction of yourself?I believe we will be friends in future.
Good luck!

Thank you, I would love to come to China someday.
I believe you could be right about a friendship because I do live in a college town in America. We have much to get used to when people come to our town from all over the world. It is an adjustment to our new friends as well as to ourselves to drive together down the streets. I think the most astounding thing about America is that in many places it is not very crowded and there is a lot of room. I live in the north so it does get very cold in the winter (November-March). I do love the cold and snow though. It is a change that causes me to relax. The rest of the year is very green and beautiful. We have rolling hills in our area but no mountains. There are many farms in between the big cities which makes driving in our state very nice for things to see.
America has 50 states. The two states not on the mainland are Hawaii and Alaska. My state is right in the middle of the mainland in the north it is called Michigan. Michigan is the place that General Motors, Ford Motor Company, and Chrysler Corporation are located (American car companies). There are many small farms here and our state is known on the west coast for some of the best growing conditions for fruits because we are surrounded by the Great Lakes. I have traveled much of the mainland and also been to Hawaii. Someday I hope to visit Alaska. We have lived in two other states. One in the middle of the country and one in the south. Each state has it's own kind of people and own way of speaking English.
We have many little festivals in our small and large towns in the summer to celebrate either what we produce like vegetables, fruits, etc. or the country and culture our people come from. We are a melting pot but many times have small communities within our towns of people who speak their own native language and sell goods that are related to their culture. If you are visiting New York City, there is a little part of that called China Town. Anyone can find many items from China that we cannot find in our regular large stores. If you use Chinese herbs, etc., this would be a good place to purchase them. In our little college town we have different ethnic grocery (food) stores. Our larger food/goods stores also have sections with foods from different countries.
I know that English is not an easy language to learn but I think you will do just fine. We are used to accents from different parts of our country to accents of people who come from other nations and speak English. I hope this information helps you a little. Will you be planning on studying all over our country or in the North, South, East, or West part of our country? I wish you a wonderful trip to our country. We may shock you in many ways but we are just people like anyone else. Our new and media tends to be much more focused on the negative than the positive and we overall are a positive people.
