Is white lie acceptable?

Hi! Im just want to know. Do you consider white lie correct? or acceptable?
I just observe some peolpe say a white lie for good intention. But still is it really necessary?

it depends on what we're talking about. if a friend is wearing a shirt that i don't like but she asks my opinion i'll tell her its a nice shirt. or if i see a really ugly kid, i don't tell the parents "damn your kid is ugly" in cases like that, yeah it's acceptable but beyond that no lying is not acceotable.
