What Are You Training For?

At first, I started running just for exercise... but with so many people in the running group training for specific events, I have started to become interested in such events as well.
Currently, I'm training to run another 5K in September and hopefully improve my timing a bit.
So what are you training for currently? Or do you mostly just run for fun and exercise? Which I think is really good too.

I just stareted running one month ago. I found i was fatter than before so i decided to do exercise every day. Then i found my health got better and i got more active. I will keep running! Maybe i should set a goal like you!

Glad to hear that you are getting healthier!
I think it is definitely a good idea to set a goal. It gives you something to work towards even on days when you do not feel like running. For example, if I know I'll be running the 5K with the running group, I don't want to be last place. But currently, I am at last place so I have been working on improving my speed.

For exercising my upper limbs I go swimming occasionally. I also try to lift weights too when I have time. Not large weights or anything. I just have a set of 5 pound weights and 8 pound weights. I probably should buy a bar to lift too, but right now my next exercise purchase will probably be trail running shoes.

I run mostly for fitness purposes but am building up to competing in my first fun run event a 7km run around the bays in Jan next year. In previous years I have walked the event (as I have only been running for 5 months) and found it easy enough so hopefully with enough training and preparation I will be fit enough when race day arrives. I would prefer to start off with a 5km run however none are offered in my city most actually being 10km also Jan is the nearest race as no races are held in Winter (its currently winter in New Zealand).
Currently I run 30 minutes four times a week. Not much but each week I also cycle and do pilates too.
Have you heard of nike+ I find its really motivating to run and upload my statistics and compete against other runners all around the world.

Wow, good luck on your 7K!
Around here you mostly see 5K runs. I want to do a 10K by January but I haven't seen anything that will be nearby. Although I've heard they should have some in the spring (which begins March over here, currently it is still summer for us).
You sound like you're doing quite a bit of running. I wish I could be that active for so much of the week.
I've heard of Nike+, but I wear the Nike Free Version 4 shoes, which don't offer that technology yet. If they come out with a pair that it works on, I'll probably get those once these wear out.

For less than $10 you can purchase little pouches online which you can attach to your shoe to hold the chip. My uncle uses these as he prefers NewBalance and Adidas to Nike. :-) Good luck on your next run and keep up the great work training.
