did you watch this on WE tv channel lately? It was about people who fall in love with people they write behind bars and i used to write people behind bars myself. IN PRISON that is, but never fell in love with one not sure why i did it for about 5 yrs. i think maybe just curiousity. anyway, the same noseyness caused me to look up a girl on there that they said killed her parents on a Christmas day. geesh. heres a link im going to try.

if it works, THIS IS NOT A REFERAL LINK. its concerning the content of discussion. anyway, how do you feel? have you ever written prisoners?

No, i have never written to anyone in prison. I have enough problems w/out getting involved w/someone that has more than i do.

There was a young man who used to write me regularly while he was in jail. It was nothing romantic at all. He was one of my daughter's friends and he just liked to write and had plenty of time to. I always wrote back to him. I have a friend that broke up her marriage for some guy in prison. She didn't even know him but she had met him a couple of times while visiting someone else in jail. They ended up getting married when he got out. Now she is trying to escape him as he is violent.

This guy was just a kid and his crimes were non-violent. Beyond his stupid choices in life lied a really nice person. I guess I saw potential in him and encouraged him to do well. i still hear from him from time to time and sadly....he is still in prison. At this point, it would be difficult for him to make it on the outside. He is institutionalized. He is more comfortable in prison than out. It is what he knows. I think he would have done better out of prison on some sort of support system ...not sure. The system is messed up. Child molesters get free and kids like this get locked up for years. They get out for a short time and their parole is so strict....can't have a drink or smoke pot so guess what they do.... a good amount of them turn to heroin...they can do it and get it out of their system before their p-tests unless someone rats them out. Something is really not right with our system.

I have never think about letters to prisoners. I am not good with letters in general.
Writing letter is so hard for me, it is not like responding on Mylot...
Anyway, I didn't write any letter for over 10 years...

Hi bunnybon7,
I maybe hard but I am sorry but wouldn't give my time to any prisoners who do crimes like murder, why should anyone care about them, they should be locked up and forgotton about, so what about the victim's family, who cares about them, do they have people that wrtes to them and help them overcome this horrible time in their life for some insane person to take their love ones life? oh yes there are do gooders do help for a few weeks then disappear for good mean while these people have to live with losing some they love for the rest of their lives. That is my opinion and I would leave this girl to rot in prison without any contact from anyone. You on the other hand has a bigger heart the me because I can't forgave people like that. You are a wonderful person.

i guess im ok. thanks for the compliment. i do think your right about some people that we know they did these terrible things. especially killing her parents. thats just sick and i dont see how she could be in the house and not know what was going on if she didnt do it. also, why would she not be killed to? unless she was in on it.your right. people should write to and try to comfort the ones greiving.

i have written to prisoners before however on both occasions they were friends of mine that were sent away to jail. both times i was told that my letters were helpful to them - it can get lonely in there. i can't imagine writting to strangers in prison however it is nice of people to take the time to reach out to people who need advice or motivation or even just a friend.

well i think back when i was doing it was because of a womans idea that she can help and change people. but i've learned years since. that dont work. a person only changes if they want to.

Wow, I read a few of the woman's profiles. I guess it wouldn't hurt to write one of them. We can't judge them for making mistakes because we make them everyday, maybe not as bad..but we do. Thanks for the link. I wrote my brother when he went in for a year. He made a new friend..who robbed a house who said he was just picking a few things up..He had a key so my brother didn't think anything of it. But since he was there..he got a year. And for homeowners to always change the locks when a tenant moves out..cause they can always make copies and still the next tenant stuff..lol He learned his lesson that was for sure.

yes a lot of people get lied to and sucked into crimes. to bad they cant find a way to test friends before you get into trouble.

I have not watched this show. I had a man that was in prison write to me once after I had a poem published in a newspaper and it had my address in it. I didn't know anything about him and sent him a polite thank you After a couple of unanswered letters, he quit writing me.
I would only write someone that I knew prior to him going into prison.

All of us can fall in love whether out or behind bars. . . for those who can find love behind bars, it is good for them as an outlet to keep themselves busy while they are inside the prison cell.

hi bunnybon, how are you? It is strange way to fall in love. I have never written about anything about prisoner.I did not see or watch this news item on WE TV. I feel very strange to read such a news item first of all. I always wonder why some people commit a crime which is unforgivable. Anyhow, I have read the story and the link was helpful to read the story about a prisoner..

Hon, it happened to me! I was married to a man I met while he was in prison. He is still a dear friend though we are not still together. I started writing to him while he was behind bars. Went to visit him, fell for him and we were married there at the prison.

no i wouldn't even think about it unless i knew that person and what that person did some don't need friends of anykind. i knew this person niece that wrote to one and when he got out he came to see her and he killed her so no i wouldn't write to any one that i didn't know or believed that it would help them

Well this shows you that there is always someone for somebody. If you haven't found one yet keep looking and don't give up or else that one that was suppose to be for you in now with someone else. They are lucky that they have people outside willing to fall in love with someone inside. That must be a very difficult thing to either go through especially with the visiting times.
I don't see why it is a wrong thing either that prisoners have someone outside willing to motivate them to get out. Hopefully the people that are in love with them are ready to accept them or at least help them to become a better man instead of a person that gives no respect to others.
Prison is a hard thing to bare and to have a special person out there it should make there time fly by faster as well. Plus it benefits the people that just can't find someone outside of the inside world. And at least this helps with the fish in the sea stuff. There is obvious a lot of them out there just catch one.
God bless

how sweet you must be a very special kind person to look at it like that. its just not for me. of course as lonely as i've been perhaps i should find time again. maybe theres a nice old man in there thats seen the error of his ways?
