Just imagine no electricity at your place for 12 hours from 10am to 10pm on a Sunday. What would you do? Would you just stay at home continue with your daily routine? Or you have any planning in your mind? Try to share with me here. Thank you and Happy Mylotting.

If there is no electricity in twelve hours, i would probably sleep too. Although i had experience that already not only for twelve hours but whole month that we have no electricity, it was also most lazy days because all seems depend on electricity, from lights to listening and watching t.v, mobile phones, it was not good month, and we sleep early too. You don't have to do something because it happened naturally. Storm was the reason that we don't electricity for one month
Back again in twelve hours, i have nothing to do other things but i keep in the computer and because there is no electricity sleeping is what will i do.

Sunday, not a problem. Go out to the nearest mall and spend my entire day there. If it happens on a weekday, then it might prove a little trouble as my husband is working and I'll have some classes on. I might have to cancel on the classes and bring my boy out to the mall all by myself!

I would read a book while I ate the ice cream that was in my freezer.

Oh well, I've experienced having to live with no electricity for months. Really strong typhoons usually hit my location and when that happens, the power would be out for sometime to fix broken electric posts and power lines. There are so many things you can do without electricity. YOu can bond with friends and family. You can talk for hours. You can learn to appreciate the beauty of the stars and the sky at night. You can take nature walks. When something like this happens, we can learn how our ancestors survived in the past.

No way I am going to stay at home without any power supply. I will go out from my house, carry my laptop, and go for my favourite Starbucks to enjoy my time. I don't really enjoying walking around for that long hours too, so best is still sitting with my laptop and enjoying my best cup of coffee.. Happy MyLotting

I used to live in a country that I loved very much, but unfortunately there were water and power shortages all the time! Sometimes it would only be short, other times it would last 3 or 4 hours, but sometimes it would be for even longer than that! I was not able to iron my clothes before going out, I could also not dry my hair if I needed to wash it, no television and what is worse, no reading either! In the fridge in the meantime, the food (especially milk) was going off! That was many years ago, but they tell me that it still continues like that sometimes! In a few days it will be 20 years since I left that beautiful country, what a pity! I am not going to mention the name of it, because I still love it and its people and would not like to say anything negative about it!

I go through that periodically where I live. I have battery operated DVD players, flash lights, lanterns and wood burning stoves so I can cook. I also always have a ton of books to read and crafts that I can do. I live a quarter of a block from a lake so I can always go fishing. I never lack for things to keep me busy when the power is out...I've had power outages that have lasted for three to ten days, so I am always prepared for power loss.

No electricity for twelve hours would not be a problem at all, even in freezing January. Some years ago we had an ice storm that knocked out all the power where I lived for five days, that was in below freezing weather. I survived! I listened to a battery powered radio, ate cold cereal and fruits. I slept with my ski pants, coat, and hat on. During the day I went out to work or at shopping centers where they had power. If it happened in the summer it would be a breeze to pass the day, inside or out. I like a bit of adventure and being creative to survive. I think we are very spoiled and have little appreciation for how hard life is for many people. Of course I would miss my computer and internet and would have a hard time sice I have become and addict and can't seem to stay away for much more than a few hours.

well, it depends. if all the area do have been cut, then there must be other friends lose electricity, so i guess we will go shopping.
if only happens on my house, i think i will go to my friend.
isn't that a good idea?
hehe, or maybe i just stay home reading book.
also depends on weather and season, complicated...

I can never live without electricity. What would I do? I think the most important thing is fan or air conditioner. 12 hours is a long time. I might go out to the mall, find a friend to go fishing maybe, just as long as I am at my house that time.

Dear vingyan06,
OMG, no electricity?? the first thing come into my mind will
be Hot, Hot, Hot.....quickly wear my jeans, get my son and my
car key and drove to the nearest mall - bring along cash and
handphone too! hahaha
Ooops! Your scenario is on a Sunday...(rewind the above scenario..
zezezezpp..) In the Church morning service until 10:35am, go for
brunch...then go home, err no electricity...continue the scenario
as 1st paragraph...if have extra time, go for a movie at the cinema
- in a cozy place with cool aircond
Exciting topic...I truly hope by 10pm the electricity is back, if
not how are we going to sleep, noisy & HOT..no aircond...'pengsan'!
(pengsasn is ib Bahasa Malaysia , meaning : fainted! lol)

It's been a while since i have had to go that long with out power (thank goodness!) but the last time a big storm came through an knocked out our power for many hours, my roomates and i lit some candles, wrapped up in blankets (as we the heat woudln't work either and it was winter) and sat around playing card and board games and talking. It was actually kinda fun! the hardest thing though was not being able to cook anything. It really made me miss my home back in nebraska where we had a gas powered stove instead of an electric one. With a gas powered stove you can still manually light the pilot light and cook!

I would be able to get by without electricity for 12 hours. There are plenty of things that I could do. I have a lot of old magazines and I use them in my art, I can spend several hours flipping throgh the magazines looking for pictures for my art. I cut out the pictures and then I combine them in order to create funny and unsual pictures. On a day without electricity I would spend a lot of time on my art. I also have a lot books that I didn't read yet, so that could be a good chance to read some of them.
In the morning and in the afternoon I wouldn't need my lamps, so I could easily get by without electricty. In the evening I would use candles and my flashlight. I couldn't cook, so I would just eat some bread in stead of a hot meal.

Just 12 hours is not a great problem. In our country India,we have shut down of electricity, once in every month from 9am to 5pm.So,an excess upto 10 pm will not be a big problem to worry.Just go out to the shopping area where they will have generators or go to temples and spend your time useful and easily.Cheers!

If there is no electricity during the morning hours as said (10 AM to 10 PM) I will have breakfast and go out for timepass. I will go to place where electricity would be available or atleast power back up is available. Will have lunch, dinner and snacks outside and come back home to sleep.

We might go out to eat as a family. Or maybe to the park. If we stay at home, we usually just sit around with flashlights and remember old memories, laughing and all together. Some times a power outage with no electricity can bring you together lol...
