There are many responsibilities to being a parent.
1) Provide all of the basic necessities for your children.
2) Teach your children right and wrong.
3) Show your children unconditional love
and so many more.
How much freedom to give our children depends a lot on their age. For example, my daughter is 6-years-old. Her freedom is limited to going outside to play with her friends up the street but she knows that she is supposed to check in with me every 1-2 hours. When she gets a bit older she will be allowed to go to the movies with friends provided I drop her off and pick her up.
Punishment for her is typically being grounded from playing with her friends and/or being grounded from playing online.
