hello there guyz....cigarette is everywhere.....there are some males and females that smoke. both young and old. there are advertisement everywhere showing cigarette. but then at the box of the cigarette there is "government warning: cigarette is dangerous to your health.
so if there is a warning why do other people still smoke? they do know the bad effect of this cigarette. and in this generation younger people are trying and liking the cigarette.why dont they stop smoking? no offense to those who are smoking im just asking why do you smoke?

for me its a stress reliever. I know it sounds weird but it definitely calms my nerves enough for me to think a bit. and no I'm not saying anyone should follow my example. from time to time i will get really stressed out and I'll buy a pack and smoke it down over a week or so and then i will quit for months at a time until the next stressful situation comes up and i need release. so yeah...not the best stress reliever i know, but it works for now.

When I was young, nobody knew the damage smoking was doing to their health, and it was socially acceptable to smoke. However, over the years, the damage scientists found that we were doing to ourselves became well known, so smoking was banned in many places, and millions gave the habit away. Many older people found the habit too difficult to stop. However, I cannot understand why young people start when they know the damage they are doing to themselves. Incidently, I gave up smoking about 1976, I think.

It isn't only their health they are affecting, and that's the problem. In Australia there are strict regulations, but in some countries you can't avoid passive smoking where you're breathing smoke fumes, and I don't like it.

I agree with you...I don't know what pleasure they get while smoking...My father-in-law had a bypass recently...he is 60 now...he was a chain smoker till he was 30 but after that he gave up smoking for his wife.
The doc said that there were 3 blocks in his heart and the reason was that, he smoked thirty years back...Smokers should see the pain that he is undergoing after bypass...they should atleast then realize that the money that they are happily spending on this deadly thing will eat thim soon...and they may die with excruciating pain which they themselves invited few years back.

I personally don't smoke, but I have a lot of family members and friends who does smoke. My dad used to smoke but he quit a few years ago because both my brother and I have asthma and it was best that we're not around people who does. So he did it for us, which we're very happy! Yet some of my other friends just agree not to smoke in front of me but they still do it somewhere else. I'm not sure why they smoke, I always tell them that smoking is very bad for their health and it's risking them towards lung cancer and such. But some of them told me that they smoke because it helps them release stress. I even have one friend that told me that she only smoke when she goes clubbing because it heightens her mood or something like that. I don't even know if that's true. But most of them say they use it for recreational purposes only. That they're not serious smokers and definitely not addicted to it. However, I don't really believe that, because if they're not addicted to it, then they wouldn't have to even smoke at all.
