Who is your favourite horror director?

Who is your favourite horror director? What are your favourite movies by that director? Have you recommended those movies to your friends? I am a big fan of zombie movies, so of course George Romero is high on my list. I love John Carpenter's earlier stuff, as well, and David Cronenberg has also done some brilliant movies. Who do you like best, and why? (Yes, I'm looking for recommendations on horror movies I might have missed.)
