Dear ckyera, Wow, you got your own special 'house', that's very interesting! So, with your vast experience and creativity since younger days, I believe your real home/house now must be very beautifully furnished with nice interior too! Role playing is fun...is is very creative too! May you describe how this 'chinese garter' is played..since quite a number of you mentioned 'chinese garter' as one of the childhood game that you all played. Is it a board game like chess? Pls advise... Thanks for sharing and really appreciate it. Do keep in touch!

Hi, I wish i could have remained as a child only..Since during that day we will not be concerned much about our future things and all we just used to enjoy our days by playing most of the day. I still remember my favourite games which I used to play are singing competitions, carem board, chess ,table tennis and cricket.. I also used to play CARDS with my friends and we never used to get bore by playing such games.

Oh the joys of childhood games! As a child growing up before the video games came out, (Ok, here goes the age dating question:"Does anyone remember Atarie?") we spent hours outside playing tag football, red rover, softball, kickball and hardly ever went back inside until supper was called. Those days are so looooong gone. What perked my interest in this discussion thread was that I have an article on helium that goes into greater detail of my childhood games. I had to comment because the childhood games of yesteryear will never be enjoyed by the youth of today, unless we take it upon ourselves to mentor young people, or make sure our grandchildren experience some forms of these childhood games of old. Thank you for the chance to walk back down memory lane!

Dear LizMacGill43, How are you? Glad to know you here, at myLot! Truly agreed with you, the young generation now are more into IT / PC games. They play bowling, squash on wii..virtual game! Therefore the school have compulsory co-curriculum for them to participate in school...they need to physically active in order to have proper growth! Yes, I enjoyed and have so much fun with all my childhood games like 'hide & seek', flying kites, fishing even catching earth worms...lol (my mum asked me to catch earth worms to feed our farm ducks)... even though it is a task ordered by my mum.. when we go out with friends, we are so creative, everything can be fun and can be games too! Thanks for sharing, hope to hear from you again in yet another interesting topic here at myLot. I truly enjoyed reading your experiences. Do keep in touch and all the best! Cheers..

I also like playing hide and seek with my friends when I was young. We usually play that at night outside the house so it would be difficult for us to find our friends. One time I remember during playing that, I hid in a dark corner because I really don't like to be caught. And yes they didn't found me because I stayed their for 20 minutes and the game was over. Whew.

Dear jenkye03, You are 'hide & seek fan', me too! I still played it with my son when he was much younger...but now he spent most of his time at the PC..hmm You are very daring to play it at night...it could be dangerous! But last time...our world is much safer compared to now! It was so funny to hear that they never found you coz the game was over, it happened to me before also...hahaha Tks for sharing & hope to hear your views on my new topic : 1) Do you prefer to send proper greeting cards or e-cards, sms?

Dear Karen, Yes, those was the best memories of our childhood.. Playing hide and seek is a wonderful game, can play anywhere, anytime and don't cost a thing! I notice that hide & seek was played all over the world, it is so universal...I wonder where it originated from. I used to play with my son and my hubby. We enjoyed it very much! It is evergreen... Btw, what and how to play eenie-eyenie over, the name sounds interesting. Care to share...lol Oh yes, Karen, perhaps you can share your views on my previous topic 1) What do you do with your loose coins? 2) Are you an impulsive buyer/consumers ( I believe you can share some interesting opinions)... tks and have a nice weekend! Do keep in touch and happy myLotting!

Hello Irene. Yes, hide-and-seek is universally appealing to children and adults alike. Eenie eyenie over: two people or two teams of people stand on opposite sides of a one story building. A ball, such as a softball, is thrown over the roof after saying "eenie eyenie over!" If someone on the other side catches the ball, they run around the building and try to touch someone on the other team with the ball (not by throwing it, of course lol.) The other team has to run around the building and get to the opposite side before anyone is touched, or the team with the ball wins. You keep "points" up to ten, and then choose or exchange team members. Oh, and if you throw the ball after shouting eenie eyenie over and it doesn't make it over the roof, you have to holler "pig slop," so the other side knows. It's easier to play it than to explain it lol. I will check out your other conversations.

Hi, The days in my childhood were very happy days. I always liked to go outside the house and play. in my childhood cricket was my favorite game. When there was very hot outside my mother didn't allow to play outside. So we I used to play cards, carom, snake and ladder etc. When there were holidays I play with my friends for the whole day.

Those childhood days are the best - life is so free with no worries. Wow, I believe you are very good with cricket and maybe you represent your school for competition. Yes, if it was raining or too hot, my mum will asked us to stay and play indoor. Life is so much fun back then.

We used to play a lot of tag games and one of it would be cops and robbers. We also played hide and seek during lunch breaks at school. Sometimes we play "pass the message" and jackstones and it was really fun.

Dear magojordan, Oh yes, you reminds me of "pass the message"! That was fun too! Few years back, our local tv channel has premiered the series called "Ghost Whisperer", to do it promotions..they introduced the "pass the message' game and changed its name to "Ghost Whisperer"...it was really funny as each group consist of 15 people..by the end, the whole message was so distorted from the original. We really have a good laugh...all of us were given a goodie bag (the winning group).. Thanks for sharing, hope to hear from you again at my other topics. Do keep in touch!

When I was a kid, i used to play with my other neighbor friends on the street and it was a native children's game we call it (tumbang preso), shatong, hide and seek, who's it, jack stone, jumping rope and a lot more that I can't recall the names of the games. Nobody would grow up without playing those games during our time. But since this generation is more about play station games, computer games. Most kids don't play outdoor but indoors with their fellow kids. Anyway nice topic to discuss. It flashes back memories of the past and I wonder where are those kids in our neighbor now. Happy Mylotting.

Dear strawberrychocodahi, I noticed that 'tumbang preso' was one of the popular game in Philippines. It sounds very interesting too. Btw..is "tumbang' literally means 'fall'? In Bahasa Malaysia..'tumbang' means fall! We in Malaysia also did play this similar game, we enjoyed it so much! Yes, I wonder too, where are those kids in our neighbour now? Thank you so much for sharing your childhood fun experiences here! My two favorite games were "Kick Ball", a form of Baseball, except we kicked the ball rather than hit it with a bat, and it was a much bigger ball. And the other game was Croquet...hard to explain this one, if you aren't familiar with it.

It's rare to see kids playing the traditional games these days. All they do is wii! I have lots of childhood games but I dont really know the name of the game. One of them required 5 stones to play. Then there is this thing called 'congkak'. I love to play catch with my neighbours hopping on one leg only. Those were the days. I dont see kids do that anymore and it is really sad.

Dear submerryn, Wow, you still remember the five stones (batu seremban). I was quite good at it but not now, lost touch already! lol I still played Congkak with my son during school holiday! Originally we played on the computer CD, later during Christmas I went to Toy R' Us and bought the 'modern' Congkak set for him! It is good if we can teach our children some of our childhood games especially the skipping rope, hopefully it can promote 'growing tall' or perhaps play basket ball like "Yau Ming" I always asked my son to go out and jump, he prefer to sit at his netbook and blogs..hmmm how to grow tall like that? only the finger can grow long like 'ET'.. Thanks for sharing, may we be happy everyday just like our childhood time!

Hi,We had very little money when I was growig up and had to find inventive ways to entertain ourselves. Hopscotch was one of our all time favorite games to play with the neighborhood children. Another favorite game was marbles. Even though I was a girl, I was one of the neighborhood's champion shooters. We also made use of discarded automobile tires for racing. The small boys would be placed inside the tire's hollow and rolled down the dirty road by big kids while the cheers rang from the sideline and finally, a pats on the back for the winner of the race and the dizzy kid who wobbled all over the place after being released his tire prison. No electronics, like today, were part of our world, but we sure had fun.

Dear Angelgirl16, Those were the 'good old days' of our childhood time. We have to be creative and make our own games basically from all the recycled items at no cost at all! Wow, you was a champion at marbles shooting, the game normally dominated by boys. Good job! The tyres racing story was so funny and so much FUN, I really enjoyed reading it so much. Yes, I enjoyed those indoor games too. Card games like 'Snap' (I am really good at it) Snake and ladder is really challenging especially when we reached to the end of the game, suddenly the dice rolled and we ended up on the long snake and have to go all the way down. Those were the good old days The modern children now are playing 'Play Station', Wii and many games on computer, iPad and iPhone...lol

I remembered hunting around the house for extra rubber bands to make my rubber band skipping rope... sometimes not long enough..so need extra rubber bands. My mum will said.."who took all the rubber bands? I can't find any to tie my things!' That's so funny and so much FUN...that's the most happiest time of my life besides the time when I became "mother" to my son! I would have to say that my favorite game was TV tag It went like this when ever the person that was it was going to touch you if you hurried up and said I TV show then you where safe but you had to be careful because if you said a show that was already said then you were anticlimactically it.
