My cat confused me with someone else and got terrified when he realized that he made a mistake. My cats are scared of strangers because they were abused by their last owner, so they usually hide. The only people they would really let near them is me and my boyfriend. Rocky is especially scared of strangers. My boyfriend's sister is a cat person, she loves them and will do her best to make cats feel better, but Rocky doesn't know about it yet lol so he hides when she pays a visit. She kind of looks like me, we are about the same hight, both skiny and both have long brown hair. The other day she came over and when she came in Rocky jumped on a table to get his kisses. She kissed him on the head, he looked all happy, enjoyed the love and attention. He than looked up and saw me a couple of feet from my boyfriend's sister. His face changed completely when he realized that it wasn't who he thought it was kissing him. Poor guy was so shocked he didn't know what to do. He just stood there on the table looking at me and then at her, than he jumped under the table stayed there for a few second and then ran for his life to take cover. I know he felt terrible and was scared, but it was very funny to see how his face changed lol. I teases him about it after my bf's sister left, he wasn't happy... Actually for the rest of the day whenever I would touch him he would look very careful at me to make sure it's not someone else. I was very surprised when i saw that he let her kiss him and was actually very happy that he finally starting to trust people, I guess i was wrong lol. Have your cat even confused you with someone else?

It's sad that your cats were abused by a previous owner, so now they don't trust people. I think it's cute and funny, though, that he thought your boyfriend's sister was you. I can just picture the look on his face when he realized his mistake. I bet it was priceless!

yes, i feel very bad for them and want to cry when i think how cruel people can be to someone so sweet. they are doing good now and are very happy, but they have to see the same person for a few days in a raw to start coming out... my mum was the only exception, Boss came over to her the first day. I guess he figured that my mum couldn't be a bad person...
Rocky was abused the longest, so he is very jumpy... i loved to see exactly how fast his face changed, it was so funny...

I had the same with one of my cats, he is the Boss, he always tries to protect his brothers and usually doesn't like strangers, but when i appeared, he fell in love with me :) whenever i sit down or lay down he lies down next to me, just to be close. My father is the same way with pets, they all love him and he loves them back :)
On the other hand my cats don't like my boyfriend's father and grandfather. Both of them think they are always right and are totally perfect while in reality they make a lot of mistakes and at times could be rather nasty, my cats hate it. The Boss actually attacked my boyfriend's grandfather once, he jumped on his head to show who is really in charge.

Animals tend to have a "sixth sense" about people's personalities. They seem to "see" or sense things in people that we might not understand. I have animals come up to me all the time that supposedly are afraid of people or don't like people. On the other hand, one of my puppies was growling and snarling at one of my friends. I couldn't understand it, because normally he likes people. I later found out that my "friend" wasn't a very nice person sometimes. I think my dog sensed that and was trying to protect me.

Thx for your comment, sry i didn't respond right away, was away for a few days.
Poor cat was terrified... I feel really bad for him, but it was really funny... they don't usually have strangers around ether, only once in a great blue moon someone comes over, that's why he didn't even bother to look who's kissing him at first lol...

That's funny... However, don't know who you should be worried about more - the cat for mistaking your bf's sister for you... or your bf for having a gf who looks like his sister... LoL...
I bet your cat's embarrassed now... He'll be back to his normal self after a few days... ^_^

well, his sister isn't too much like me, face is totally different, but at a first glance for a cat who doesn't usually see and women it's an easy mistake lol... He is doing good now, but that night was something for him... poor guy, he was so scared... I can't stop laughing just about it, his reaction was truly priceless.
