Does anyone have or have had a loved one in Tent City? I have heard rumors about a class action suit against the state due to the poor treatment. I am trying to find this for a friend. Her husband got 2 weeks there for DUI (no injuries). Believe it or not, they make you PAY for water! No kidding. He gets out daily for work furlough but only after he spent 2 days. After his first two days, his eyes were yellow from dehydration. He didnt get any water until spending well over 2 hours there and only because another inmate shared water with him. The food is moldy and hard to choke down, especially with no fluids. Anyone have any experiences?

Every thing that I have heard about the place points to prisoners volunteering to go there and that after they searve there they do not go back to jail. They have to wear pink uniforms and there is no AC. I do not feel that having no AC is cruel even in that heat because we have soldiers who are in full gear working in 120 F temps and they do not complain, so why feel bad for criminals. To me the fact that people who go there are not repeat offenders afterwards leads me to belive that perhaps they have it right. Not to be mean about your friend's husband but I doubt he plans on ever going back.
