I sometimes do. I'm not too good with my hands, though, so it ends up a little strange. Even so, I find it very relaxing. It's almost like meditating, makes you feel calm and the hours fly by. And of course, it's great to give something you've embroidered yourself to your friends and family.

Doesn't matter if it relaxes you. I myself, love to do it. It is relaxing to me and like you the hours just fly by. I have just told another member that most are using embroidery machines now. Boy, are they missing something wonderful !!! Anyways, you enjoy and keep on using those hands so you don't lose them. Therapeutic !!!

I definitely prefer hand needlework of all kinds. I am crocheting a large baby afghan right now. Just a simple single crochet stitch, but the beautiful yarn colors make it pretty.

I have just recently dug mine out. I started the fabric painting last year and with winter coming on, I want my hands busy LOL Watching it snow gets boring ! Why not dig yours out too and maybe that would keep your mind busy as well as your hands ? I have a lot of patterns if you'd like to have a few, I'd mail them to you. Hope you are in better spirits today---kinda sounds like you might be. You are in my prayers. quita88

Not any more. I have done a little in the past. I am thrilled to have some items family members have made in the past. Believe it or not, two of my adult disabled clients have just finished pillow cases for the State Fair.

How nice but adult disabled clients? What is it you do? I think it's great when disabled people do a great job:) I have embroidered most of my life. I have just last year done some fabric painting on T towels and gave them away for Christmas presents. Now going to attempt some glass ware. I was really hoping more people did the hand embroidery but finding out most are using the new machines now. Oh well,I enjoy it. Glad you responded. quita88

HI, not sure about this response---is it about embroidery? Don't need to know why you embroidered, just asked --- Talk to you later, quita

I have done a small amount of embroidery but I don't think I was very good at it. I think it's an art really and you just gave me a good idea for something to do this winter. I'm shut in winter months due to mobility issues and I am going to definately try my hand at embroidery. It's lovely done up. I have never really had anyone show me the secrets but I'm sure there must be eazy to undestand books to learn by. I see by your responses there's now a machine for this but that wouldn't interest me, takes away from the true art I think. Have a Great Day

I just got mine down from upstairs and will be doing some later today. The winter months is when I do the most on embroidery anyway, but I am going to spend my winter this year in Oklahoma with my kids and grandsons. Still taking it all with me ! You might be able to find books in the library or in a book store. I learned from my mama when I was very little. There are embroidery machines and they are very expensive, but still I like to see what my hands can do. I have oodles of transer patterns and loads of thread. I am going to buy or make some simple vests to embrider on. I have lots of kitchen towels to do and give them for Christmas presents. Just wanted something for ME to wear with my own hard work on them I hope you enjoy your embroidery as much as I do. I hate it cuznot many do it and seems like it's a lost art. Take care, quita88

My Auntie taught my sisters and I how to embroder when I was 11. I enjoy it but am not that good. I prefer to cross stich but I have to have the pattern printed on the cloth. I am in the middle of a table cloth right now that I plan on putting on my kitchen table when My husband and I move into our real house (the one that we plan on living in for a long time not the one that we are in now until we can afford what we want) I used to do it more often and I hope to get into it again after I start working in January because I think that homemade things make the best gifts.

I think it's great you are working on a project for your future home. I have to have printed things too tho. Doesn't matter. I like the patterns and they are easy to transfer and I have the transfer pencils and paper to do it. I have also done some fabric painting and given those items away for gifts. And, like you, I think homemade things are the best gifts. I just wish more people found the same pleasures in embroidery that I do. Keep up the good work.
