International friends, I only see them during the school year....

Since entering college, I made a whole new set of friends and one thing that's different then high school when making friends is the fact that you'll see A LOT of international students. I soon made a circle of close friends and realized that all of them are international students. So I got to spend my first year at college with them learning and having fun with them. As the school year came to an end, I suddenly realize that all of friends are about to head back to their own country. I was so used to seeing them everyday and kind of believe like high school that I would also see them during the summer; however, once summer started, they all flew back to their own countries. I know that I'll still see them next year, but it just opened my eyes that wow, I made friends all over the country....I'm definitely not in high school anymore. Did anyone experience the same thing when they were in college? Or hope to meet some international friends when they do enter college? Tell me your what kind of friends you made in college!
