I tell you, I haven't slept a wink last night because some girls were talking in the other house across the street and I could hear them giggling and such!!!!! Arrrrggghhh... it was already about 3am!!!!!!!! There was also a time when I was in a waiting room and a man couldn't keep his voice down while talking on his mobile! I mean, leave the room!!!! Hehehee.. What do you think about people like there? Or are you one of them? They say that people who have loud voices and can't seem to notice that they're on the brink of shouting has ear problems, is this so?

Hi, laydee! Two women where I work are annoyingly loud, and they never seem to notice. Eventually, I suggested to both that they have their hearing checked, because If they could hear themselves, they wouldn't feel the need to be so loud. It turns out both were found to be in need of hearing aids. I worried that they'd be offended, but they're glad to know what's wrong. Of course, neither is using a hearing aid, for appearances' sake, but we can remind them to lower their voices without a problem, which makes lunch breaks a whole lot more pleasant.

So, there you go, I guess there are instances when being loud is indeed a symptom of having some hearing problems.

Sometimes, though, it's just a way to get attention. I guess some people don't care whether it's positive or negative, as long as they get attention.

Hi there! I feel irritated when someone cannot lower their voice. If I am going to sleep and somebody in the home is watching TV at a high pitch and volume, I just feel disturbed and cannot sleep. I simply make a request to lower the volume. During day's time we hear lots of noise and therefore, we prefer that nights should be quitter for us.

Maybe you are correct with the line on people who cannot keep their voices low having ear or hearing problems. Have you ever noticed one thing? When we put on the head phones we tend to speak louder than we usually do. Our mind perceives the sound of our own voice and if it is clear to it, it decides - that particular amount of decibel to be the optimum pitch and is universal. But the same is not true to others. Some people just try to brag about their possessions and their status in the society by speaking loudly so that everyone can hear them. Of course, speaking on a mobile phone won't create an impression but if its an iphone it surely will.

Hi laydee, Habit is the second Nature. Hence once people pick up a habit like talking loud they can hardly come down to the normal level. I have met several people of this nature. Even over a trifle ,matter they shout but when you ask why they were shouting they would say where have they shouted? They are not aware. but can be amended with utmost care.

There are many reasons why some people can´t lower their voices. One of them is, of course, that they have hearing problems, but that´s the less common. It has more to do sometimes with the way their mouth is made and their chords. It´s like a musical instrument. But there is a way you can suffer less. My youngest daughter has very sesitive ears. Her 5 year old boy has a loud AND acute voice. She is slowly trying to teach him to speak in a quieter way but she bought a wonderful pair of ear plugs and it has been a bliss for all of us. Take care

People being loud at inappropriate times is one of my biggest pet peeves. The people in one of the townhouses beside us are LOUD. They even make noise when they walk. They stomp and yell all over the place. I also hate being in a restaurant and being near someone that is loud. It's disrespectful to everyone around them.

I think they are full of inferiority complex and they want to attract others towards them and the least way they know is to shout like that.I too have come across people like that. The best remedy is to ask them to lower their voice,if possible or just leave the scene. They don't even realize that it is bad manners.Cheers!

well i guess they do. but others just like their voices louder than their usual voices. like my mom, she gives a louder voice because she has an earing problem. but when we let her see to an EENT the doctor told us her problems and solved it. so now it smuch more different than her past voice. but i really do hate people like that. atleast they could respect other peoples privacy. hope they put in mind that they are making noises which is affecting other peoples lives. thanks friend jhelai

Ha-ha some people who cannot lower their voice its like impossible for them to do... I know because it is impossible for me to lower my voice... everyone says its because I am so tall and crap but that isn't true... A lot of times people cannot lower their voice for say if Like when they were little they were never heard like people didn't listen to them and stuff... or if they were always quiet. And also loud people really do not notice they are loud because that is their normal speaking voice so they think of it as normal... Also could be ear problems but usually it isn't
