Moderation in all matter, any exceptions

There is such a thing as moderation in all matter. It is an age-old wisdom and I am deeply convinced of it, especially when it comes to diet. For example, as an old saying in my culture goes, 'Control your meals seven% full'. Drinking wines in moderation is also said to be benefit to your health. Besides, we are also told to be moderate in work and rest. But is this principle applies to all? I wonder if there is exception as to the more the better or something.

Hi, ifancy! Moderation is almost always the best way, but there are indeed exceptions. Once can never love too much. Nor can we help others too much. We can't have too much education, either. I'm sure there are other exceptions, but these are the ones that come to mind easily.

Thank you for your responding. It sounds very reasonable that one can never love too much. But what if we love someone too much, for example, a child, we may spoil the child and I don't think it is not good to his cultivation. At the same time, if we offer a person too much help, the person who accept help may become more and more dependent on us and gradually lose the driving force for coming out of the jam.

I guess I see the things you mention as inappropriate expressions of love. One of my sons was very angry when I said he couldn't use the car, but he stopped whining that I didn't love him when I reminded him that I love him too much to let him drive when he was very obviously overtired and needed some sleep before he could drive safely. He'd been up all night to study for a test, and he didn't want to have to ride the school bus that day. Enabling bad behavior isn't appropriately expressing love at all.

I find moderation useful in many cases, but such things as peace, love, logic, thinking, etc, you can't really go wrong without moderation.

yeah, maybe peace is one exception. the longer, the better. But it is difficult to be eternal, there were wars every few decades in the past and there are still conflicts and casualties reported everyday.
