Are your vacations relaxing or very busy with activities?

Depends on the vacation, but if I go somewhere I want to see something. Sometimes I will pass something up and just rest though. I'm still sorry about missing Capri when I was in Italy, but I really needed a nap. lol

You do take some real busy vacations! But it's good you know how to rest too.

The DisneyWorld one was insane. We tried to do 7 parks in 7 days. Almost wore our feet off!!!

Many times it relaxes me just to do something different than what I do at home, even if it means doing some things that are tiring.
If I´m not feeling too well, I prefer a beach where I can sunbathe while reading a book. But if I have the energy, I love to see other places that teach me. I have been 3 times in Ciudad de Mexico and come back with hurting feet and my heart full of joy. I have walked and walked through antique streets in the south of Spain. I could name so many things like that! And yet, would you mind being tired while looking a a painting by Boticelli in Firenze?
Happy posting!

My vacations can be either way. A couple weeks ago, our vacation was packed with things to do almost every day. We had a great time and were totally exhausted! I'm going away again next week, and every day is booked with things to do. I'll be totally exhausted again! I need a vacation to recover from my vacation. I am planning a cruise in May or June though and that will be LOTS of relaxing! Also, if we get away in December that will be purely relaxation too!

I have only been on two vacations, can you believe that! Sure I've gone up for a day with my grandfather to visit relatives in the mountains, but staying for more than a few hours, I've only done actually once! My fiance and I once went to stay at cabins but ended up coming home because we couldn't sleep. Then before that, old friends and I had gone to the beach.
I guess for me, vacations are relaxing. I hadn't been on many because my family didn't go on vacation.

Why couldn't you sleep? Just wondering....I mean, it's the mountains quite and peaceful, right?

I haven't had a vacation in a long time either...I keep moving or changing jobs and you have to be on the job for a year before you get vacation. But I have one coming up in November...if I don't move again....

Yes, to me a vacation is a break from the normal routine. But, sitting and reading a book under a tree qualifies just as much as running around an amusement park or touring a foreign country. I don't get time to do much more than work and sleep during my normal day to day life.

I guess it depends on what kind of vacation you want it too be. If I was going specifically like a vacation to see different attractions, like Disney World for example. Then I would expect it to be a busy vacation, with much to see and do. That's the type that causes me to feel I need a vacation from my vacation. When I go just to get away and unwind, then I head for the Great North Woods of New England. Usually just to get away and be one with nature. I do things like read, moose-watching, birdwatching, sitting by the water etc. Usually if I take a busy type vacation, I allow myself a couple of days to unwind and relax at home before returning to work, if possible.
Brightest blessings,
Mari

We're going to Six Flags in August....I'm excited but not as much as the kids are. That is what wears me out....watching them!

When I go on a vacation I go more for adventure than for relaxation. If I visit a tropical island I like to go out to a coral reef to do some snorkeling. I like to explore the local area by walking and sometimes cycling. I enjoy meeting the local people and finding out about the culture. I usually fly out to a gateway and then I travel by bus and train around a region. Rather than stay in a hotel I prefer to stay in locally owned guest houses, rustic looking beach huts and tree houses. So far I have visited 52 different countries and I hope to visit many more.

When I go on vacation, I usually spend the days on sightseeing, and I tend to start early in the morning in order to see as much as possible. I am an artist, and when I go to a new city or a new country I like to visit the art museums and the local art galleries. I am also interested in architechture and I like to walk around and look at the different buildings, and I enjoy shopping and eating the local food. The way that I travel isn't exactly relaxing, but it is important to me to see as much as possible

I'd love to do something like that...I went to New Orleans before Katrina...and took lots of pictures of architechture. I wanted to see and do everything. The best part was the Ghost & Vampire tour.

I'm always so excited to go to a place that I've never visited before that I tend to schedule way too much into each day. Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way. For the most part, I'm never sure if I'll visit again and I like to leave having a real feel for a place. The most relaxing vacations that DH and I take are when we fly somewhere, rent a car and drive and make absolutely no reservations. If we like a place, we stop and spend the night and if we really like it we may spend a couple of days there.

Now that sounds like my kinda vacation! I like to see all there is to see too. But if I'm in a hurry...what's the point? I probably won't remember it if I rush.

I have limited time for vacation, so usually have a busy schedule. But still, I get relaxed in open air and through physical exercises. When back home, I do get relaxed and in a good mood for working or living.
How I wish I have plenty of money at my disposal so that I can really wander about in depth to see different places, and different people. This kind of touring must be more relaxing and unwinding.

I've thought the same thing zhuhuifen. I'd tour the world and spend months in the places most interesting to me. Enjoying the culture and the food and the sights and meeting the people would make me very happy.
