You remember when our mothers say us., when we was kids; you must eat all from plate if you want go out to play with kids or want to watch to tv..; i remember!! Now, when you are mature, you eat all from p[late all time? If you visit somebody and dinner toghether eat all, because she will be sad because you don t like what she cook? Is good or bad to eat all from your plate? I think that is not good, because we must eat just how much we need..nothing more;

Hi, Ice! While I'm working hard to lose weight, I use small dishes - salad plates - and then eat everything on them! It might seem silly, but it works for me...

My mom was the same growing up. There were times I was left at the table because I wouldn't eat my food. If I don't like something why make me eat it? Anyway now I just take what I'm going to eat because I hate throwing food away. As for my kids when they were growing up if they didn't like something I would never force them to eat it. I think that is abuse. With my kids I gave them a small serving if they wanted more they could have seconds. Just so there was no waste of food.

I feel that we should be served on a plate only that much food that we need and not more. But whatever food that is served on the plate should be eaten. If we leave the food, then we are disrespecting the food. And food has to be respected because food is the gift of nature.

it is true that mom says that while we were little. and i have learned from that very much. it means do not waste the food. dont put anything in your plate more than you can consume. very sensible, isnt it? thank you for this discussion, ice. ann

i think most of time i eat all from my plate, unless it really tastes too bad. in my opinion, we must save the rice, we cant waste them. so i always get how much i want or i think i can eat up, and then finish it. but it seems we waste more when in the restaurant than at home.

It isn't contrary . You just take what you need in your plate . Well someone might prepare food for your plate . If you really are full you can ask sb to help i don't think the person who invites you will be angry if she knows the truth. Of course we really should express our appreciation for the dishes our friends done for us.

I will eat all from the plate still my stomach gets full. When we go out for functions people encourage us to eat more. Some people say such chances will not come a lifetime. If my stomach is already full then i will eat a little or i may even refuse the food.At functions i take a lot of food to eat as there is taste and i enjoy the food.

Yes, when we were little, mom always made us to finish everything on the plate too, she said we will grow stuff on the face if we don't. Since then, we allways finish everything that we have on the plate.

Yes, I do. Even if it takes me time to finish it, as long as I have to finish the food, it will be worth it instead of setting it aside of worse, throwing the left overs. I can see how the world is in poverty and there are lots of people who can not enjoy a decent meal. Some are not even eating anymore and just sleep their way to skip hunger. But then you can still see that there are more obese individual rather than those who are malnourished. I have nothing against weight issues. I am just sticking plainly on the topic of food, eating and reasons why we need not to waste food. Happy Mylotting.

Everytime I go to a buffet restaurant, I will take a lot of food, making a hill on my plate. You know when you are hungry and the food you see are so nice, you just thought that you can eat it all up!! Often I took like 10 bites and I am full, and it is such a waste of food. My boyfriend always commented on that or he will help me to finish my food.

Haha, for me, I would like to eat all the food from my plate when I'm totally hungry or the food is very dilicious for my flavor. But if that does not make sense then most of the time, I guess I would not eat all of them just only part of them might ok.

Stuffing yourself is never good. Eat until you are satisfied. My mom used to always fill the plate and expect me to clean it all off, I couldnt do it. I dont believe in that.

Yes we should eat them all because it is GOD's blessings. Many poor people have no food to eat. The host in a party we'll be very glad if she sees that you eat all the food in your plate. So it is good to eat all from your plate to please the host and at the same time you have not wasted the food. Moral lesson do not get food that you cannot consume. Just take a little and go back if you want some more. Therefore it is bad not to eat all the food from your plate.

hi icesmile, i take only that much as much wanna eat. and i serve myself to me . there is nobody else to serve me. so no way to leave. i also believe that one should not leave . sometimes my hubby leaves and then he burps , (sometimes unnaturally also, lol )but just to show me thathe is too full. sometimes my father in law cooks becasue he like to cook and enjoy something cooked by him. so he cooks. he uses too much of oil and salt. i cant eat too oily so i dont eat everytime he cooks. but sometimes he cooks tasty also. my hubby loves his made food.

I try not to take more than I will eat, but sometimes you eyes are bigger than your stomack. I don't force myself to eat if I am not hungry. I might later return to that plate and finish if it is still available. I also don't force kids to eat all that is on their plate or to eat something they don't like. I have never used food as a weapon. If your hungry eat if your not hungry don't eat. I don't think people get their feelings hurt over food that's not ate, but more like they don't like to see food go to waste.

I am very particular about how much i eat. I always serve myself and take only what i want and how much i want. I never waste anything and i never take second helpings. I do not believe in stuffing myself and the moment i feel that i have had enough i stop eating. I know exactly how much i want and this has been my habit for several years. lol.

That's what my mom still told me until now.. So just take little amount of food to your plate that you think you're able to eat it all. If I visit somebody and get dinner together, I'll try my best to eat all from my plate as a courtesy. If I really can't stand the food, I'll say "No, thanks, I've already ate before arrive here" or I will eat only little amount.. This help me to finish my meal.. Of course we must eat as much as we need, and to achieve it, I think better to eat little amount of food several times in a day than have big meal once in eat time..

sometimes i prepare my own food. I need only that really satisfies my belly. well, eating in a plate and when it comes to eating fish and shrimps, i have always considered leaving the bones behind. it's not bad to eat all but what is bad is eating too many..

its a habit since i was young, i had to finish all on my plate. So here i am. I am a size 12 and growing, dang! not eating all from the plate made me feel guilty. This habit made me not realising how full i was until i was done with the meal. Bad bad bad..
