Ghosts from the past?

I don't know if this is happening to any other people here in myLot but it happened to me twice, the last one just today. Most of us tend to do our best to clean our unresolved responses. I try to have quite some different answers and opinions before I mark best response so I usually leave it until I have about 1 or 2 pages and then go trough all the discussions and mark best response. Today I was focusing on such task when I realized that I was looking at discussions that were 1 year old and to which I had already attributed best response. I know I did it as I also know that last month when I checked they weren't there. It doesn't really matter much, but it certainly is odd. I remember this happened to me some time ago as well. I wonder if it's a glitch or something. Did anyone notice this as well?

When users lose their accounts because of repeated violations abuse, most of their posts go with them, including those where they have received Best Responses. Then it can be awarded to a different user who probably deserves it more.

Now that makes sense and I know am able to understand how that discussion came up again and it needed a best response. Thank you for explaining, I confess I never thought about it although it is almost obvious LOL

Many times the most obvious solutions are staring us in the face but we just don't see them, both offline and on. Happy to help

The time it happened to me was a year or so ago, probably the same time you're speaking of in the past. Bit within the last month or so, another mylotter posted about her unresolved discussions coming back, with the best responses no longer selected.

I have no ghosts at this time, and I am glad. As soon as the old ones get resolved I will feel free to post new ones.

Well, now we know :) there is a reason in a few posts bellow that explains it in way the makes sense. I was confused too, but now that I understand what can be it is actually a logical conclusion.

Hi there! It has not happened with me so far, if I've cleared and resolved some discussions, that are not shown again the resolved category. I wonder how it has happened with you.

mysdianait explained that it happens when the best response was given to someone who was banned or no longer here. I think that's the right explanation.

I'm not sure. I think it may have, but the fact is I am bad at remembering that sort of thing and I certainly don't write it down. Could be a glitch.

Yes I though it was a glitch too, but then reading the response of one of the posters I thought it makes a lot of sense.

I believe it has happen to me and to other people on mylot, the oldest discussion that I have seen appear again had been 6 months old and from me I do not really remember how old the discussion was but it already had a best response, and I do not give best response right away, I wait sometime. I have two pages of unresolved discussions, cause I have heard to leave them at least for two weeks and then I forget so I need to go resolve some discussions in a little while.

I usually wait for some time before I give best response as well. Usually I have one or two pages of unresolved discussions as well, and then I remember to go and check them and solve the older ones. I might have had others like this, but in this case I was sure I had given the best response before because I remembered the discussion very well. I am glad that mysdianait was able to shed some light in the subject. I think the response given is a very logical one and I am thinking that completely correct.

I will get back to you on this. As far as I know, I have only two unresolved discussions, as I do not start very many and I try to keep them cleaned up. It happened to me once in the past, but part of that was a member who had received a lot of mine got banned because he had plagiarized answers. I promise, I am going to my unresolved right now, and I will let you know if it happened this month.

Yes, that is what mysdianait explained. Of course it makes sense and thinking about it I think it was the case in the last one I found. I seem to remember that the person I gave the best response in that discussion is not here anymore.

Hiya arkaf, that's certainly weird and if it happens to me, that would make me wonder too. I have managed to resolve my 1 year old discussion just not long ago as well. I like to see my unresolved discussion clean too..

I now know the answer to this, or at least the one that I can understand. Apparently if we gave best response to someone who is deleted then best response comes back for that discussion so we can do it again.

Although it has been a year, each discussion is still possible to receive comments and ratings. Congratulations..

Yes, but usually not the ones already given a best response. But the poster above you supplied a good explanation :)

I hadn't noticed that, but I will keep my eye out for it. That is very odd, I wonder if maybe the person that you gave the best response to deleted their account or something and that might throw it back in for best response?

I can't tell you how interesting that is. I wonder, my husband has this friend who seems to be doing the same things over and over again in his life. I wondered why that was happening to him too. I'd never seen anything like that before in my life. Maybe there's something in the discussions that you're meant to learn or fallow. Anyway I'm not sure maybe it's just some quirk of nature too.

Strange.Maybe your husband's friend is caught in a loop of some kind. A poster gave a good explanation for the discussion thing - it's when we have given best response to someone that is no longer in mylot. It makes sense to me :)

Its sometime a problem that is faced by everyone here in mylot.Even the discussion that I started about 2 weeks ago Has been deleted I suppose before I can mark the best response.
