Remember the fifties . . . Annette and Frankie beach party movies? Have you ever been to one? We used to bring around 50 kids from our church to the beach every summer. Taught them how to surf and of course, the moms took care of all the food--hot dogs, hamburgers and all the stuff that went with that. The kids looked forward to making their own S'mores!!!! Always a treat. We were usually there early in the morning till the beach closed. How 'bout you . . . did you ever do the beach party thing?

Yes, at the daycare I used to work at used to do something similar to that. Except, we couldn't get enough transporation to take everyone to the beach. So, one sumemr day, we pretended the sandbox was the beach. We played with a beach ball and the children brought beach towels. Some of the parents brought summer/beach food. It was fun.

That is soooo special. I love creativity like this. Bring the beach to them, if you can't find a way to get there. Most excellent.

I actually just went to a sock hop themed wedding and they had it at a beach! Everyone including the bride and groom dressed in theme. For dinner there were hot dogs and hamburgers and other beach/picnic type foods! At first I wasn't sure about the whole idea. However when I got there and saw hot dogs on the menu as wedding food, I was convinced! It was really fun to see what everyone else considered 50's and sock hop theme.

That's totally so much fun!! How creative. Was there a cake after all those hot dogs and hamburgers?

Oh yes, when my kids were young, we used to go to the South Padre Island beach, and spend lots of days down there! We always had lots of fun, and they always enjoyed the marshmallow roasts!
p.s.-- Do you play a guitar, gtargirl? I was just wonderin'!

Yes I used to work at a summer resort on an Island in Upper Michigan, there was another Island near by that was deserted, we were a bunch of crazy college kids, all under age and this guy had a boat he would charge $5.00 to take us to the Island and bring us back! We'd go over there with a keg and some food. We had a big bon fire and play guitars, sing, eat, drink and be merry! This was when Sputnik ( the first satellite) was circling the globe and we could see millions of stars and the northern lights, we would look and find the satellite moving fast across the sky! It was awesome! Those days were the best! tdemex

Awesome! Don't you just love having wonderful memories of life such as these! Kind of brings a smile to your face every time you think of it. Sounds like a really beautiful island under the stars.

Hello my friend gtargirl Ji,
Well, I never lived around sea-shore and as such, if I have to visit a shore, I have to travel at least more than one night journey in train. But I have attended lot many picnic parties, where Ladies were not given any kind of Jobs, which normally they do at home. It was a pure amusement, enjoyment and relaxation. When I was a teacher, I used to take my students for hike involving overnight stay and it inviolved camp-fire as well. There we could teach as well and enjoy as well.
May God bless You and have a great time.
