AMD or Intel. Whether AMD Athlon X2 / AMD Phenom™ II or Intel core2duo / Quad core processor ? I am not a serious gamer or I do play lot of games but not regularly. That's why I am confused whether AMD or Intel ?

In terms of raw performance there is only one answer INTEL quad core all the way.
Check out this one
overclocked Intel core i7 975 extreme 3.86 GHz 8MB cache.

i recommend not to buy overclocked processors....u cannot do overclocking once if u buy an overclocked or marked CPU's ...Later if u have to upgrade ur system, u have to buy only a new processor...

actually they have increased the systems clock speed and made the jumpers ready for overclocking, that is why it is producing an excellent performance, but it has short life and intermittent operation is taking place continuously and the cooling issue is matter of importance...

As you have mentioned that you are not a serious gamer then i suggest you to opt for intel core2duo processor as this wil be the best for you. The compiling of programs is fast in core2duo so i suggest you to opt for it. Let me know with the further details.

Intel is clearly the winner. AMD sounds good as it has higher specs on low costs. But what sounds good is not actually good. A CPU is much more than what is revealed to consumer. There are different technologies used in processors. Intels technologies are certainly better than AMD's. I prefer you to buy an intel core 2 quad. Its compatible and you can buy it under Rs 12500. If you have more to invest checkout intel's new Core i7 proccesors

i would prefer intel, simply because i am using intel and i have not got any problem till yet with it, i think it is great. i am not saying that amd is not good but i can't comment on that because i have never used an amd processor so i would go for and recommend a intel based processor.
