Do you response to discussions that has.......

....links? Have you realized that you have to use your common sense whether to response or not to discussions here? You must be alert too as there are discussions that doesn't agree with mylot guidelines but are not deleted by the admin until they receive sizable responses. What looks like an innocent discussion becomes a trap for others to response when there is a link included. Sometimes I am not aware of the bobby trap that I have stepped on when I response to discussions with links. Because the discussions come from friends that has been supporting my discussions I jump right away without second thoughts when I see their discussions. Only after pressing the send button did I realized that I have responded to a discussion that has a link to it. That explains the yo-yo figures besides my name. Which link is right and which is not is all up to the admin to decide. Even after writing that usual warning 'this is not a referral link', does that give you the assurance that it is safe to response to that discussion? I doubt. Do you response to discussions that would obviously ends up in mylot bin?

I am guilty of responding but not to just any. if putting this is not a referral i will usually respond if it is someone i hear from regularly. I have probably been in the a bunch of times & sometimes it my discussions that put me there. I have decided freedom of speech doesn't always apply here.

Freedom of speech has it's boundary but to totally put a gag to this freedom will have adverse effect to this site. Maybe it is one way of controlling the huge population here as without such strict regulations this site could not have sustained to this date.

I do respond to them, if the link adds to the discussion. There are some that tell more about the subject that they are discussing. They are not supposed to end up in the bin.

If I feel that a discussion will likely be deleted, I usually do not waste my time responding. There are some circumstances when I do, though, to show support to friends. I usually will not open links in discussions as I feel like it causes problems for my computer sometimes. That does not mean that I do not respond, if it is not a referral link. I do have a friend or two who do not believe me when I say that they will eventually get deleted. The response usually is "Everybody is doing it." However, everybody can also get their discussions deleted.

Sometimes negligence on the part of admin to delete discussions that are quite innocent. I mean those that doesn't put referral link but link to substantiate their topic of discussions. I have not done it before but I think I will try putting a link to my discussion and see whether it get deleted.

Link!!!I was not aware about them earlier and as an aftermath lost many points in the past. But I am now alert where is the live ware lies and carefully jump over to safety and refrain from looking back at it. to be frank I feel the admin should delete such discussion before they get lots of response. May be they have no time to spot right at the moment.

I don't think admin as the time to go through all the discussions here and they rely on members to send in their complains. I have also lost points answering discussions that have links in the past.

When I joined this community,in the initial stages I was not aware of it and therefore lost two or three posts from my count. But now I am alert about this and only respond to those discussions that in all likelihood will not get deleted. But even then,we cannot be absolutely sure because after we have responded someone might come and post a referral link or do something against the guidelines, leading to the post getting deleted along with our responses.I remember last week I had responded to a post which asked users to describe the avatar of the person who had posted the topic and also to describe our own avatars and the reason for choosing it.I had written a nice response to it but found a day later that the discussion had been removed. In such a topic,I do not know who had violated guidelines so we cannot really say. Also I try to avoid controversial topics.I am not particular about responding to topics posted by my friends only but respond to any topic that I find interesting and one on which I have something to say.Anyway I am only a month and a few days old here and I am hoping to learn more as I grow older on this community.

That is why I say it is not for us to know which discussion stay and which get deleted. Sometimes it is not the poster who is at fault but the respondent deliberately put a link which affects everyone when the discussion gets deleted. People still doesn't learn that a rule is a rule and going against it will be disastrous. Many people get banned for repeatedly going against mylot regulations.

I respond to some of the discussions that have a link posted in them. I feel fairly safe if it is not a referral link. It also helps if someone says they are not trying to refer someone or sell something also.

From my experiences sometimes links that are not referral links are reported blindly and admin might have overlooked it and indiscriminately delete the discussion which result in the fluctuations of our earnings. I

Hi Zandi! Thanks for enlightening us, it is right that quoting some other links in the discussions are violation of guidelines. I normally do not feel like participating in those discussions, which have some links and specially when these are started by unknown users. I try to respond to my friends discussions and I trust that they will always post something interesting and informative.

I am beginning to avoid discussions that have links to it. I would try my best to create discussions that doesn't jeopardize others. When discussions get axed others earnings are affected which is unfair for them. It is better to play safe.

Often if I see a new member post topic with a referral link, I'll be the first to post and notify them they are not allowed to do that and recommend they put referral links in their profile. If I lose a few cents here and there cause the discussion get's deleted, I'm not to worried about it. Getting paid here is a side benefit to the useful things I learn and share here. Making a friend or helping a new person not get banned and have their own success is plenty in my book.

It is good that you warn them before they get banned. Some people might not be aware that they are going against mylot regulations when they put a referral link to their discussions

hi zandi I am very careful about anything with links as I have got into trouble with dubious links. so I try to avoid them as there are so many other discussions to chose from that are much more interesting to me. I try never to respond to something that I am sure would be nixed by mylot. It took me awhile to learn what discussions would be tossed, but I did learn. your discussion is good as it will wise up some newcomers here as what to avoid so you will not lose points, thanks for a good discussion. hatley

Hi Hatley, welcome back to mylot. I have not seen you for a long time. I hope this post will shed some light to the newbies. They need to know that links can sometimes be very misleading.

when you say that it would obviously ends up in mylot bin, of course, obviously, i will not respond to that discussion. when there is a link in a discussion, and i got interested to the discussion, i will read the entire discussion and if i found it deserving to give my response, i will first check the link. if i found out that the link will only lead me to affiliate site, i won't response even though i find it interesting.

I use my own judgement as to whether the discussion may be removed at a later stage and, of course, once decided I have no control over it should Admin decide to get rid of it. I have responded to some topics knowing they may be deleted; sometimes it is worth losing a couple of posts if the topic is a worthwhile one and one who everyone needs to read.

You are right, I too on few occasions have responded to discussions that I know well will be deleted. Since the strong urge to have my views heard I care less of any reduction on my credits that goes with the deletion.

Hi zandi, I can't say I've ever noticed links, do you mean a link to a news page or something? I thought those were ok if credited. I don't bother replying to anything I think will end up in the mylot bin, repeat discussions, anything to do with earnings as thought they weren't allowed but seem to crop up every day, or anything which has got so heated that insults are flying.

Links that are highlighted which are allowable here can be very misleading as others would view it as links that are disallowed and send their report to admin. I don't think admin would have time to assess the link but just delete discussions that have been reported. I think I have experienced my earnings deducted after responding to discussions with links.

Hello my friend zandi458 Ji, As far as possible, I respond to all discussions started by friends and for which I get Alert email in my mail-box. If there are any discussion where referral links are made, I just utilise my common sense, but as a practice, I never follow the links. I feel mostly they belong to earning issues, where myLot admin takes care. I feel it is wasting of my time. I do't have to prove taht i have ever escapes discussion started by you, landed in my box. May God bless You and have a great time.
