I have learned how to play chess when I was about 7 years old. I slowly became a better player as I grow until my college days. Through those years, I have joined and participated in different tournaments, inside and outside of school. Actually I used to be a chess varsity when I was in college. I can say I'm just an average chess player, not that good but also not that bad. I have rarely played chess after college. It's because I was became busy in other matters. But I still love playing chess. Actually I have thought to start this discussion because I have played chess a while ago in YahooGames. Lol! How about you, do you know how to play chess? How good are you in this game?

Hi there!
I love playing chess and it used to be one of my favourite indoor games, because it gives us a kind of mental exercise and sharpens our skills. It is always exciting to calculate move by others. I do not get much time to play the same now a days.

Chess is also my favorite board game. Mind games is really fun. It's a battle but without physical contact. Yes, we should keep on calculating while on the game, we should plan our moves carefully and we should avoid errors. Me too, I seldom play chess now. But still, I love playing chess. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!

I learned to play chess out of curiosity. I am not really good at it since I get headache thinking of what moves to make. So if you ask me if what level I play, I guess It would be safe to say that I am still on the beginners level. I have not played any competition. So its just for fun. Well, chess is such a great game and I really admire those who are really good at it.

It's good that you know how to play chess. Not many girls know it. It's good that you became better and better as you grow. Chess also needs practice, and if you don't play in long time, you will not forget the game but you will lose some sharpness. It's ok, chess is just a good past time. Don'e get pity. Lol! Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!

Playing chess with older people is really challenging and exciting. You are the underdog and it's an honor if you beat them. Playing with them make us also learn some techniques and moves. Chess is really a nice game. I'm glad you also enjoy playing it. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!

wow! a chess varsity player... that's pretty neat! hehehe
i started playing chess in primary school, only because someone said i couldn't do it and i was challenged. -lol- but i started enjoying it when i started understanding the rudiments of the game. i'm such a fan of board games. that's how most of my family members bonded before... until we learnt card games. -lol-
i competed in highschool for school level competitions and won. i don't play it that well, perhaps it was such my luck that my opponents didn't play well also. -lol-
it's been a long time since i did play the game. my younger brother is actually a better player in it. but i still consider it fun. :)

Yes, you like being challenged coz you are a competitor. Lol! Wow, you must be a good player. Please don't plan to play chess with me, I don't want to look like a child who doesn't know how to play chess, and I don't want to be checkmate in two moves. Hehe. Anyway, I'm very glad to know that you are also a good chess player, as well as in poker. Lol! Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting! Take care!

I know how to play chess but I can say that I'm not good at it. I just know the moves. I learned playing chess when I was in elementary. In highschool I tried to join the tryouts in our school. But I didn't stay too long in that coz I really don't have the edge in this game though.

I certainly do, as soon as I was old enough to understand how the pieces moved my dad taught me how to play chess and I would say from that point on to my late teens I would play a few games of chess with him most days. Like yourself I have entered a few tournaments, main local, and didn't too bad beating many so called chess experts but never actually winning the whole tournament.
These days I don't play so often but my game is still pretty good. My trouble is I don't like playing computer chess as I like the actual interaction with your opponent. But I do resort to an occassional computer game when I get the urge.

I noticed that most chess players have learned how to play chess during their early age. Maybe that is the best time to learn, since the earlier the better. I can see that you are a good chess player since you can be able to beat other competitors in the tournament. Yes, it's better and more comfortable to play chess in actual than in computer. But if you play often in computer, you will also use to it in no time. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!

I learnt the game when in my early teens and my parents taught me how to play chess. I love the game as it stirs your mind and with every move you have to think sharper than your opponent.
I would call myself average - where i do play sharp moves but generally lose at the end. I know how to drag the game too . However, i like playing with people who are good at the game instead of fooling around with kids who have just begun to know the game

In playing chess, you should think sharp and smart all through the game, because one mistake can be enough for you to lose. You should maintain the strength of your forces, both offense and defense. Yes, it's better to play against people with higher mental ability, it will give you more challenge and learning. Your skills will also be enhanced. Thak you for your response. Happy myLotting!

I am not good at playing chess at all. If I'm not mistaken, I only learned playing chess when I was in high school, and I played for a while only. I am generally not good at playing any strategic games. I learned playing Chinese chess when I was 5 years old, as my father always played Chinese chess with my elder brother. But they didn't really like to play with me, because I didn't have any strategy while playing chess, it's kind of boring playing with me, I suppose.

I really enjoy playing chess. I'm pretty good at playing chess. Maybe mylot should put some chess on here to pass the time while we discuss. This would be awesome. Do you know how to do the notations? We can get a game coming along here and people can contribute but can't make the move =P.
God bless

I am glad to know that you are a good chess player. I agree, if myLot will put a chess game feature here, it will be more exciting and fun to be here. I know there are also many chess enthusiasts here like the two of us, it will really be in favor for us. We will be able to compete against players from different countries. That's so exciting! Yes, I know chess notations, both the old one and the new one. Both p-k4 and e4. I already experienced playing in a tournament with clock, and chess notation is required. So in that game, you should know well how to write your move and how to think fast, because if not, your clock will keep on moving and you will lose. I can't still decide if I prefer to have coaches in a game, I think, for me, coaching is not allowed because the players will know the blinded move of his opponents. Maybe viewers can just cheer the players but not suggest a move. Your idea of putting a chess game is really good. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting! God bless!

Hi, friend.
I learnt to play chess when i was 10 (now i am 18). That time i played chess mostly with my cousins, and that continued for around five years. I played at least a thousand games with a variety of players ranging from my friends to the local experts, and i remember losing only thrice. So, you can guess how much i love the game, in post part due to the mind power it requires.
When i was around 15, i abandoned it due to lack of time and because all those who played with me were seniors and they settled far off from the place. Now, a year and a half ago, i got a laptop, and i started playing chess titans, but not very often. I think i am not that good at it, as i often face difficulty defeating the final level.
But, the tragic state is that chess is not considered a very popular game here and faces lack of support, even when the World chess champion and the Junior World chess champion are from our country, i.e. India. This caused me never participate in official competitions and that sometimes hurts me.
Keep up your skills.
Happy Mylotting!!

One day my teacher said to me, that a strong chess player will be able to make planning for his life, as a strong chess player who already know the steps to 40th. Just as the planning of his life, he already knows what will be like. Because it eventually i learned to be a chess player, unfortunately i can not be a chess player who respite. I can only play chess but not experts.

Yes, in chess, you should look advance, you should anticipate the moves of your opponent. I'm not an expert chess player too, I guess those chess grand masters are the strong ones that your teacher is referring too. Yes, playing chess helps us to improve our mentality and how to think wisely and effectively. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!
